Rsyu
Tomorrow 300k for HTTYD2? Seat saturation would need to increase significantly for 300k to happen since presales are weaker than last week and showtimes decreased too. Friday numbers (yesterday) increased over last week despite comparatively lower presales because seat saturation was higher (23.8%->49.8%). Roaring currents and the extremely hot weather will draw people to the theatres and spillover effect should help with more walk-up business but to what degree it will increase the saturation is hard to predict.
tupek
Yes, I've been noticing that: This friday's presales: 89,155 Last friday's presales: 158,671 But walk-up business stronger these weekdays. I hope nice increase in walk-up business over the weekend.
Rsyu
According to CJ entertainment (distribution chain) Roaring currents passed 3 million admissions at 12:30 pm (local time) which was 1 hour 15 mins ago. It was at 2,277,146 admissions by the end of yesterday so apparently it amassed 723,000 admissions just from morning showings.. This record is a day faster than revious record holders snowpiercer, transformers 3 and secretly greatly (5 days) Edited August 2, 2014 by Rsyu
chimpo
Wow! That would mean that it needed to sell 500+ tickets for each screen just in the morning showings

chimpo
Since you mentioned 723 000 admission had to be made in the morning showings to reach 3 million admission then I just divided 723 000 by 1300 screens it had on friday. It gives 556 tickets per screen. This is of course on average. Edited August 2, 2014 by chimpo

If it were a single showing per screen I'd be inclined to agree but they generate numerous showings per screen in a single day and judging from the length of the film I'm thinking 1-3 showings could have occurred per screen during the morning. 500+ seats is among the larger sized theatres in Korea and there aren't a huge number of them which is why I'm was a little surprised at that figure
chimpo
I guessed that there had to be more then 1 screening per screen because that would be ridiculously high average per screening. I remember when Shrek 3 had an OW records in Poland and the cinema I worked at had 3 copies, which then were interlocked to 7 screens and weekend average for one copy at that cinema was above 8000 tickets. ( over 24 000 tickets sold for one movie over OW in one cinema )

Another thing to consider is not all 1,300 screens (if it is that number) might have been showing roaring currents during the morning, some could have started showing in the afternoon. You worked at the cinema? Pretty cool job
chimpo
You worked at the cinema? Pretty cool job Yeah. I saw every single movie that was on schedule for free And I saw few movies before release too

Yeah, looks like a $4.5m o/w so it would have to have around a 4.7 multiplier to reach Thor 2. Highly doubtful.
