Has there been any announcement for when THG gets released? I'm getting really nervous, what if it doesn't get released in China? How long ahead of time do Hollywood movies get scheduled in China?

Still not. Hollywood movies usually scheduled one month before released.

4.27 云上太阳 Close to the Sun

4.27 骆驼客 Luo Tuo Ke

4.28 杀生 Design Of Death

4.02~4.08 Week 1

Wrath of the Titans, released on March 30th , shall still dominates with a no less than 150M yuan weekly gross, benefiting from the strong national Tomb-sweeping Day.

4.09~4.15 Week 2

This week comes James Cameron's mighty Titanic in 3D. Titanic had enormous impacts on film industry and culture in China when released in April 1998, with everyone everywhere talking about it. And it was the absolutely King of China box office for as long as 11 years. And this time it sails back, in 3D. The hype around the 3D re-release is very high, especially since recent days, with almost every IMAX theatre already beginning the pre-sales more than 10 days before it truly hits the theaters. Its pre-sales, which usually means a big midnight and a big opening, could easily match last Summer's TF3 by April 10 if everything goes right. Not saying its box office potential could be as big as TF3's, but at least not far behind. 250M yuan in first week's 6 days sounds like where it should land, if not higher. With the hype keeps going up, It could even challenge the opening week record, 412M yuan to be exact, which was set by TF3 in last July, if not because of its 3 hours+ runtime.

4.16~4.22 Week 3

Another big ship, the Battleship, sails on April 18th. Big action scenes, tons of destroying, endless explosion, Transformers meeting the 2012, this is the right kind of mega-budget flick that Chinese audience never refuse to eat up. If the trailers do say something, that is it will be big in China. As far as I can see, it should do mini-transformers numbers. However there is one problem, the Titanic, which just in theaters for 8 days when Battleship fires. Full second week of the mighty Titanic 3D vs first 5 days of the epic Battleship, should be an interesting watch. Right now, I have Battleship's first 5 days gross stand at 200M yuan.

Another thing to mention, Nicolas Cage's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, will be released on 24th , in 3D theaters only. Can it survive the two ships ? Considering Cage is a well known superstar in China and his previous movies all made decent money at the box office, GR2 should do something around 100M yuan if all goes right.

4.23~4.29 Week 4

Battleship will comfortably dominates despite 5 new boring local releases.

So my final predictions for the April hollywood releases are as below.

Titanic 3D 700M+ yuan

Ninja 20M yuan

Battleship 700M yuan

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance 100M yuan

Even though with 18 films scheduled so far, 6 less than last April, April 2012 looks much stronger than that of 2011, thanks to the release of two mega-budget flicks, Titanic 3D and Battleship. 6 of the 18 films are foreign releases, with 4 made by the hollywood, accounting for 33% of total releases, which stays flat with last April. The revenue of last April reached a record 670M yuan, April 2012 should have no problem double that, if not more.

A 2D movie could make 700m yuan? That means more than 20m admissions. An old movie 14 years ago could make 700m yuan? That means more than 16m admissions.Average attendance per show in first week should reach more than 80.The market can't accommodate 50m admissions in a month now.
