Just to show how dead BVS is in China:

This Thursday, today,  likely will be the lowest grossing day of 2016 year-to-date, nearly matching Lunar New Year's Eve (Feb 7, 38m). In the past, LNYE has always been the lowest day of the year at the box office with theaters closing for half day, no exception. BVS just made a history.

Today will beat Feb 7th by a hair

I hope HLWD doesn't continue to make crap to placate China for 25% of the receipts.

Dark is good and interesting. Tired of shit blowing up all the time.

The new release pre-sales still look low. I have yet to see a local release do more than 2.5x PS on OD. Still looks like the big 3 will open to less that 70m.  QM. May be flat to last year.

On last minute, Film Bureau approved Disney's application of extension, ZOO's run now extends two weeks to Apr 17th.

Holy shit, really? That's wonderful news!

Now if only they could just let people watch what they want.

That 25% box office return is tax-fee. You speak as if studios dont need to do any marketing and distribution work to get those legendary 40~50% from Europe markets, hire the local staff, pay taxes.... At the end of the day, 25% out of 100m BO in China might be higher than 40% BO in many other territories. Not to mention, the size of CBO will more than ten times bigger than any single market outside of NA.

Thanks Olive, any projection for ZOO final tally since it will be on screen for more two weeks? What is the rate between Yuan and Dollar now?

“Crap" ... how do you define "a crap film" ?

To me, BVS is a crap; to those who are not related to Star Wars culture, SW7 is a crap.

BvS is actually okay. First hour draggy but good 2nd hour. The plot is good but Snyder isn't good at the editing and storytelling.

SW7 is crap even to many star wars fans who finds it a rip off of Ep4/6.. some new viewers actually prefer it compared to old fans. Haha.

There are good movies

And then there are bad movies

Then there is 50 feet of crap

Then there is TF  TMNT and  FF7

Brad-Pitt-Is-Billy-Beane..png

Another 80-100M yuan will be added.

Yuan has appreciated a bit, now 1$=6.45 yuan; weeks ago it was 6.52 yuan
