There are 75 IMAX screens now in China, 63 of them in rugular comercial use and will be about 90~100 by the time TASM released here. Avatar had 11 in Jan 2010, TF3 had 31 in July 2011, MI4 had 65 in Jan 2012.More than 100 by 2013.200+ by 2014.400+ by 2016.

ROTK did more than 80M yuan back in 2003, the highest hollywood movie that year.

And you think TH can challenge Avatar which did 200m USD??? TF3, coming off TF2 which broke the record of the highest grossing film, didn't even take Avatar down. And TF is like 10 times more popular than Middle Earth. Edited by vc2002

No.The fact is that Avatar did 250M...

60M should be accompished in its first week (weekend).ROTK trilogy is one of the most adored and watched movie in China history.It has native 3D and 48 fps, and there will be about 15K screens (double that of TF3) when it released. It is the biggest movie ever since AVATAR. It is unthinkable of it doesnt beat TF3 in China. I think it definitely could challenge Avatar here.

Avatar had 700 3D screens, 3000 screens total (of 4700 screens nationally) when released. 11 IMAX.(TF3 had 3000 3D screens, 5000 total (of 7000 national wide). 31 IMAX.)TH1 will likely have about 8 000~10 000 3D screens, 12K screens total (of 15K national wide) when released. 100+ IMAX.You know the difference. It's massive.100M will be considered as a MAGA FLOP for TH1.Avatar is not unbeatable, especially in a quickly increasing market. It already lost most of its records so far. No one hardly can hold its records for 3 years, just unthinkable.Under ideal conditions: TASM could beat TF3, TH1 beat TASM, TH2 beat TH1, TASM2 beat TH2, TF4 beat TASM2, Avatar 2 clear ALL after all.
