POLYLOVE
Sorry, I meant 3D. Well I guess that makes all the difference. Are people complaining about the lack of 2D showings or are they content with 3D? Yes. Many people are staying away.
A Marvel Fanboy
I mean on Saturday. PR obviously got less screenings than FF6's first Saturday. that is true.

Bob Violence
I was soooo happy when that supposed Wanda-exclusive 3D version of FF6 didn't happen, because it meant I was able to see it in IMAX (the only IMAX screens in this city are in Wanda cinemas). If they'd actually gone through with the 3D version, I would've seen it on a regular screen in a non-Wanda theater.
A Marvel Fanboy
Wanda is dumb. They should be happy that they didnt covert FF6 into 3D. They already lost a lot on Man of Taichi by giving that movie way too many screens earlier in July. It is said they are going to do the same to The Palace, which is also financed by Wanda, next week. A Marvel Fanboy
Next week = the battle of ROM-COMs: Wednesday 8.8 Crimes of Passion, from acclaimed director of Qunshu Gao, starring A-lister Angela Baby and Xiaoming Huang, is a Crime Romantic Comedy, same genre as June hit Bladges of Fury, which totaled 280M. CoP is also adapted from a known novel. There was a TV show about the same thing in 1997. Tiny Times 2, the direct sequel to July's Campus Romantic Comedy Tiny Times with the same cast. Needless to say. The Palace, adapted from one of the most popular Chinese TV shows, is of course, a Palace Romantic Comedy. Bob Violence
Crimes of Passion is a romcom? The ads make it look like a straight-ahead dramatic thriller. If this is a romantic comedy, they're doing a really good job of hiding the comedy: Edited August 4, 2013 by Bob Violence

Godzilla
dont really know lol. How much do you think TF4 will make in China? And can internet piracy bring the film down like it did FF6?
zackzack
How much do you think TF4 will make in China? And can internet piracy bring the film down like it did FF6? FF6 is still earning good money. No amount of internet piracy can bring down a great film that can only be enjoyed on a giant screen. The advise to H'wood: don't make it big, make it gigantic! A Marvel Fanboy
Pacific Rim is projected to generate a rough estimate of $42.5m in the five-day opening weekend in China for a studio record as the local currency Rmb 277m overtook the Rmb 197m seven-day launch of The Dark Knight Rises. The China result also delivered what Warner Bros Pictures International executives said was the fifth biggest opening weekend of all time for a Hollywood film. IMAX screens accounted for $6m from 109 sites for the second biggest debut in the market. If that Sunday estimate holds it will be $45.2M. It is $42.5M.
