That's ridiculous.China is a new market for cinemas and should be full of multiplexes.There's absolutely no need to cut a movies run if people still want to see it.

I know it is rather annoying but it is what happens here. Each foreign movie only has 30 days initial run. The keys will be expired by the time. Only very few foreign movies had been extended. Edited December 19, 2012 by firedeep

Looks like LiT is losing about half of its screens to the new major release CZ12 this wknd.

It will still have about 30% on Friday.

And just sit and watch both Guillotines and Last Tycoon bomb pathetically. The two will instantly bomb on opening Friday and lose screens to LiT and CZ12 on this Saturday ...

Mostly depending on their bo performance and the distributors/producers wishes. Since most local movies have bad legs, not many have been extended.

Overally,

first 300M+ (yuan) week happened in Jan 2010 when Avatar opened.

first 400M+ (yuan) week happened in July 2011 when TF3 opened.

First 500M+ week happened when T3D opened this April.

First 600M+ week will likely happen this week with LiT and CZ12.

700M+ week will happen by Bullit fly 2 opens next Dec

TF4 in 2014 will make out first 1B week.
