I was travelling home last Monday night when someone told me people could not enter our village because of the flood. I asked if taking a taxi would help. He said yes. I waited for a taxi to pass by. I took it...when we were near the gate of the village, I was asked to get out because the taxi wouldn't make it.You know what I did? I walked in the waist-high flooded road at 10 PM! I walked SLOWLY for 40 minutes carrying two heavy plastic bags of groceries. When I reached the gate, I rested for my legs were so painful. It was almost 11 PM. My house was still far. I decided to sleep on the sidewalk near the village gate. It was very cold. Very very cold. The water rose and rose and rose. I waited for the morning to come. I walked without shoes to make it easier. It hurt though. I reached my house after another 40 minutes. I won't forget this. Unbelievable.
