Filmovie
Wait, its international run has just started, too early to tell where it is headed to go. In Italy it had a GREAT third day (Sat), It jumped at number one and it's going to gross 2.7 mln in its first Weekend. That's a very good start. You Should also consider that Lincoln is the frontrunner at the Academy Award, if it wins, 350 mln WW is almost assured.
blenderbus
It's not flopping by any means.. it would be ridiculous to assume this would come CLOSE to DOM.
Fullbuster
It's not flopping by any means.. it would be ridiculous to assume this would come CLOSE to DOM. Yeah, such a movie can't be expected beyond DOM numbers, that would be unfair. $100m OS would a great performance for Lincoln.
A Marvel Fanboy
Well, at least its OS should be even DOM ... not asking for typical 2X DOM. It is doing 200M DOM. 100M OS or so sure is flopping.
A Marvel Fanboy
Not to mention its OS distribution is handled by FOX, the most powerful studios oversea.
Fullbuster
Not to mention its OS distribution is handled by FOX, the most powerful studios oversea. You can have all the money you want it's not enough to sell such a movie, the potential target is limited. And Lincoln idn't the most famous US president abroad, particularly outside Europe. A movie about Kennedy or Reagan would be more fascinating for OS audience, without being very successful neither.
A Marvel Fanboy
But Lincoln is the most famous and most liked US president in China, at least.
Fullbuster
But Lincoln is the most famous and most liked US president in China, at least. Not Nixon?
A Marvel Fanboy
Not Nixon? Not even close.... Nixon is just an average US president to most Chinese.
Fullbuster
Not even close.... Nixon is just an average US president to most Chinese. He helped China to get out from isolationism, the big Chinese growth started from there, so what you say is difficult to believe.
lab276
I think an Obama film would be pretty popular.

lab276
Way too soon. Yeah, I was thinking that. But he'd really have to badly fuck up to lose his standing and I don't think that's likely.

UptoLight
Ok. it is time to change thread title. Lincoln scooped up another $10.7 million overseas from 2,596 locations in 22 markets, giving it an international cume of $14.7 million. Stats from Fox, the film's international distributor: UK ($2.76m from 511) sends the largest International delegation to the box office, followed closely by strong upstart Italy ($2.7m from 421), where the film significantly exceeds local expectations at the polls. Spain ($1.35m from 370) and Mexico ($417K from 261) remain faithful to the LINCOLN camp, continuing their strong runs in the 2nd weekend, followed by a landslide opening in Brazil ($1m from 151). Germany ($815K from 160) proves to be a battleground market, getting strong support from Belgium ($249k from 30), Switzerland ($216K from 41), Colombia ($168K from 55) and Greece ($137K from 20). Per screen averages are very strong, with reports of incredibly favorable press and WOM, which will help carry the film through February as the Oscar momentum continues. LINCOLN opens in 22 new markets next weekend, including France and Holland. Edited January 27, 2013 by UptoLight

The Dark Alfred
Only if the thread creator an idiot. Which he is keeping "flop" in the title. Lincoln is a hit, 75m will happen, maybe even 100m if it wins the Oscar.
