To me, there are 4 locks:Best Actor is DDLBest Picture is ArgoBest Original Screenplay is DjangoBest supp actress is HathawayAfter that I think it's open season on the awards.A lock imo is that either Riva or Lawrence will win actress.

Life of Pi a lock in visual effects, Adele a lock in song imo. Les Mis probably a lock for sound mixing.

I liked it. The two leads were great. Idk the husband name but he deserves recognition as well. Riva was great i still like jlaw better but if Riva wins she would be a worthy winner

I know in my head but I've always found it difficult to describe. Someone like numbers could probably explain it well to you. At any rate I think Les Mis easily has the best sound mixing out of the nominees and Django easily has the best sound editing - just listen to the way the gunshots sound during the big shootout! It's incredible! Won't win though.

Sound Mixing is done to create the sounds you hear. For example getting the right sound effects done in front of microphones to complement the scenes filmed.

 

Sound Editing is done through post. For example if the sounds initially recorded are a bit murky, the editing in post-production cleans them up.

I think the only real lock is actor-we just use the term too much.

The last really big lock for BP was ROTK.
