I'm not loosing my mind. Go to any Oscar party, and event. Talk to the voters. The cool, and correct answer to the question, "Who're you voting for for Best Actress" is Emmanuelle Riva. It's hard to comprehend from afar, but the 85 year old lady has managed to attain the cool factor. Before the Oscar Noms, the correct answer would've been Jessica Chastain, but that's no longer the case. If you want to look cool you're voting for Riva. It's simple really. It's not cool, nor correct to vote for anyone else. At least that's what the public opinion is, what voters do in private is different, but you can bet that it'll be influenced by this.

Oh, please, just because 70s look is different from 21st century standard of beauty it doesn`t mean the guy wasn`t hot for his time. Read his bios and all of them state that he was hot, women loved him and he loved them back. He was the most famous cheater in the business until Cameron took over.

You are aslo forgetting that women were also swooning over Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate. So not all 70s megastars were Burt types. Spielberg is a Beatles type of hot and if you think those guys were hot than Spielberg certianly was.

Hoffman was "hot" because he looks and acts funny setting himself as a kind of unique individual contrasting among Reynolds and Redford hunks. Women loves funny guy with devastating humor, it's a kind of swagger that can overcome lack of good looks. But physically hot, no.

 

Spielberg was "hot" because he was rich and successful (Jaws was a smash hit) because he was seen as a prodigy and genius compensating what he lacked in looks. Physically, he was nerdy and average, not physically hot.

 

That's woman code 101.
