CAYOM: Year 6- Oscar Tiebreakers

Recommended Posts

The tiebreaker thread, where ties for category spots are decided. Only categories needing tiebreakers will be posted in this thread. For each category, in a post rank all the choices from first choice to last choiceThe tiebreaker thread will be open until 9 PM EST tomorrow. I will then tally the tiebreakers and then post the finalized nominees, at which point Blankments will take over the show.

In the event of a tie in the tiebreakers, the tie will be broken in favor of the film with the most #1 votes. If there is a tie in #1 votes I move down to the next tier and so on until the tie is broken. If the tie is not broken by this means then all tied films move into the category.

Really? A Terrence Malick film needs tie-breaker for cinematography, Kind Hearts needs tie-breker for costumes?

Okay so everyone who posted an Osar ballot has posted tiebreaker picks. Because of this we can immediately move forward OR we can wait to see if someone like Ueka will participate before 9 PM EST tonight.

As it stands right now the tiebreakers have resulted in 2 ties. One tie is completely knotted and would result in the category having 6 nominees. The other tie can be broken based on number of 1st-place votes received. A 9th ballot would break the first tie completely but could cause additional ties.

Nein... Leave it with 6 nominees. No one will die if that happens.

What we could do is have the person who is hosting (Blank) choose to eliminate a tiebreaker contestant.

Still, it would be the only way to do so.

Leave it with 6 nominees... No one will die.

It's like choosing between Skyfall and Zero Dark Thirty. Who should win the Oscar in case of a tie? It wouldn't be fair to award the one to Skyfall when the other one deserved it just as much... so, it's a tie, it remains a tie.

My two cents on it.

Or we could do a sub-tiebreaker where we rank the tied tiebreakers.

Considering the one tie that can't be broken has only two choices, you'll have a complete tie every time if the 8 participants submit the same choices each time.

The other tie is easily broken because one choice has 3 first place rankings and the other only has 1.

Nomination thread will be posted soon.
