Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Update ($960.5m!)

Frozen likely would have if it hadn't been for the early DVD releases in U.S. and Japan.  Close, but no cigar.

I honestly hope no film surpasses them anytime soon, I like our Big 5 lineup. :)

Big 5 lineup is good. To be honest, and this is just a personal opinion, it was way better when Pirates of the Caribbean had two films in the Big 5 (DMC at 3rd and AWE at 5th) but, oh well... franchises don't (always) last forever.

That being said, Avengers 2 wil definitely end up in the Top 5 (with many other candidates - like Bond 24 and Star Wars 7 following in 2015).

Frozen wouldn't have passed DH2 on any condition. It stalled long before the DVD release.

1. It stalled because of the DVD release - let's not hide the facts. The % drops from one weekend to the next were a lot higher after the DVD release.

2. Even if it hadn't stalled, HP7: P2 was still very far away and surpassing it was extremely unlikely. It would need $415M in NA and about $925M overseas (WW=$1340M). Japan would have to reach $300M (instead of $250M).

You mean without the dvd release, it would have made $100M more in Japan, where it is already the highest grossing movie of all time?
