WOWS low cinemascore can be easily explained by older audiences hating it's vile and explicit content though. For a generic blockbuster like Passengers a B cinemascore is not good at all lol.
so can anyone give me approximate weekend estimates. (I know it's super early but I just want to see what it's estimate that Passengers and AC will open too based on these early numbers)
Reviews definitely have an effect on boxoffice lol. Like I know so many people who check a movies RT score before going to see it. But I do agree Pratt and JLaw should have made it open to decent numbers.
I do think most of the reviews focus so much on a specific part which I don't think the General audience would care as much about which might make it have good legs.
oh wow I just saw this article. Interesting that Michael B. Jordan was once considered for the role. Can he sing or play the piano though? I doubt any major studio would have ever put a black actor in that type of role though even if Damien wanted to.
I do appreciate how much of a jazz fan Damien seems to be maybe I'll watch his first film Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench if I can find it
One of my good friends saw it recently and she said she liked it but thought it was weird at some points. She said the opening was king of weak and uncomfortable (I thought this was supposed to be the best part though so I don't know how much to trust her?) and thought the singing and dancing weren't technical enough and were lacking. But then on the other hand she said the first half of the movie was better than the 2nd half lol.
My friend is confusing though.
I'm starting to think Fences could hurt this movie. Just from what I've been seeing on facebook. Or they could hurt each other. Also there are many people who seem to think this is going wide on Christmas...
LOL I was really looking forward to the film but some of these plot elements are off putting. Damien Chazelle seems like the typical jazz fan though that completely whitewashes the genre.
Still excited for this I guess. I love musicals.
Yeah this is my problem People act like this is the 2nd coming because it's a tribute to old hollywood movies which wasn't exactly a better time in my opinion. I'm looking forward to this but I'm surprised Ryan and Emma are getting away with their mediocre singing.
I think this will still be a hit because I don't know if the general audience would be as bothered by the creepiness and outright sexism of the plot. Daddy's home had bad reviews as well (although it was a comedy)
