  1. Are Shailene's scenes from TASM2 on the Blu-Ray? I don't plan on buying it but I know she had a handful of scenes that were completely chopped out and I keep seeing this commercial for that trainwreck advertising the deleted scenes.
  2. I actually think you got it kind of backwards. Paramount definitely had some awesome years not too long ago, so yeah their studio power is impressive and arguably one of the things that makes them one of "the big six" but Disney is a brand name on its own, and with all of their franchises and recognition along with countless other money making machines, Disney is definitely "bigger".
  3. Yeah, nothing against Paramount, but Disney is definitely a completely different beast as far as the marketing game goes. Would Avengers have made $600 million domestic with Paramount marketing/distribution? Maybe not.
  4. I was pondering one of those "alternate universe" thoughts the other day. I was thinking; what would the Post-Avengers MCU be like had they stuck with Paramount instead of being bought by Disney? Would we have even gotten GOTG? Would they have had the balls to release CA2 in April over a normal blockbuster month like May or November? Hell, would they have branched out to the Holiday season for Thor?
  5. I'm 20 and I feel ashamed to be after reading this. But in all seriousness you are all entitled to your own stupid opinions.
  6. I don't know if there is a gif out there that could contain the disgust I feel from reading this post.
  7. What the hell, international audiences? You got TF4 to over a billion, you could at least get GOTG above ASM2.
  8. This D-List Marvel comic book adaptation is about to out gross last year's highly anticipated Superman film.
  9. So Guardians should be the only summer 2014 film to hit $300 million, as well as the first 2014 films to sell over 30 million (estimated of course) tickets. Right now CA2 and Lego are pretty close but based on what we know of their 3D shares I have them coming just under it.
  10. That number for Sin City 2 is laughable. The movie looked horrible though so I can't say I'm surprised. Those are some awesomely hefty increases for GOTG and TMNT. Though, because it is Deadline I'm less inclined to believe them. Probably end up a few $100K's short.
  11. Unless it ends up strangely front loaded, IIS is looking at a $20+ million weekend. Very good, for what it is.
  12. I'm just really bummed out the film had to be edited. Like, we're letting one of the most backwards countries in the world influence us in a way that completely nullifies one of the things that (is supposed to) make America such a great place - freedom of speech. Since the film is an American production, other equally great countries will now also be prevented from this same thing, as an extension of this act. I mean, not trying to make this a pseudo-political discussion, but this just seems really ironic.
  13. Ugh. Goddamn it. I really hope the "buttons" are the only thing edited and not anything from the actual film.
  14. Do companies still release seperate "widescreen" and "fullscreen" DVD releases? I always assumed everything has generally been widescreen since like 2007.
  15. At least Disney gave Cap a full five months, what I feel should be the minimum for blockbuster-level films, to make its money. They chopped Frozen off in under four months, and definitely lost at least $5-10 million off of that one. Though to answer your question, unfortunately I don't think Cap will make it to $260 million. It only made $38,058 this past weekend, and even with nearly a month to go it's pretty unlikely it will reach that... unless it gets a Labor Day theater boost from Disney. Which, I doubt they would want it to cut into Guardians in any way, so they'll probably give their usual Labor Day theater count explosion to Maleficent, in place of the usual Pixar release that gets it.
  16. Really hope that GOTG and TMNT can continue their impressive runs this weekend with low 30% drops. The coming competition on the 22nd doesn't look very intimidating for these two hits, so maybe it can happen.
  17. Sweet. Glad to see both go up. I saw Guardians again with some friends who were interested and there were quite a bit of folks there for a 9:50 Sunday night show. So TMNT is pretty much going to be this years WWZ as far as box office goes. An opening in the high $60s, the usual second weekend drop for these types of films and a leggy run after to around $200 million. Not bad, August is really killing the rest of the summer, IMO.
  18. Pretty much. I'm watching Jaws right now. This film is a goddamn masterpiece and its a book adaptation, as well as the film that put Spielberg on the map.
  19. None of the three you listed are original though. Good films? Yes. Original? Not in the slightest.
  20. Putting words in my mouth, never said they were original nor have I even insinuated that in even the slightest amount. I've ranted about there being too many comic book adaptations as well. Hell, they are the most abundant type of adaptation, these days, it seems.
  21. Well knowing it made Bridges happy helps. I didn't know the book as that old, I just assumed it was a part of the whole YA book fad going on. Is it okay to be pissed off about Maze Runner still?
  22. Everytime I see the trailer for The Giver I just get really pissed off with the fact that this is what studio execs are giving the green light too over more original stuff. That and Maze Runner. Like, I get legitimately angry. I probably shouldn't but can't help honest emotion ya know.
  23. Where is it compared to the other Marvel films I know you loved so much? :PBut glad to hear you enjoyed it.
