If Guardians manages to go up to $12-12.5 million Tuesday I think a weekend drop just around 50% is in play. If not don't sweat it because I really don't think its going to drop more than like 55%. WOM is insanely good. Three of my coworkers today mentioned they heard it was good and planned on seeing it this weekend.

Frozen 2 could if it was a quality successor to the original. Remember that instant classic immediately have a tougher time producing sequels that live up.And no offense but that second idea is just wacko. I'm not targeting only you because several other people have brought up the concept various times in the past, but a Disney princess team up would be so absurd I feel it would never reach past the little girl market.I think its more likely to be something original that does it. One of Disney's upcoming films like Giants or Moana, maybe. The current Disney animation Renaissance along with the strength of coming off Frozen could really help the same way TLK did coming off of Aladdin.

Some people were mentioning some mythical Canadian holiday yesterday.

GOTG having a balling Monday. That's a 55% drop which is pretty average, but it was coming off of a sub-20% Sunday.Hopefully Tuesday can get at least $12.5 million

I really think Guardians is headed for 3x multi. That would put it at $290 million and maybe the first movie of the year to sell 30 million tickets.

Venom v Carnage: Dusk of Evil

Are these movies going to be about Venom and Carnage going around and killing people? Who would want to see that?

My real question is who will be the characters in the sequel?

This is so heartbreaking. Its a damn shame the industry just rushed film out when its still the best option.

Something will come along some day and beat it. Both adjusted and unadjusted. Right now I just think the animated market is way too cluttered. A couple of these companies are gonna have to die and certain companies (DreamWorks) are gonna have to cut back on the amount of material they are putting out in a fucking year. I mean think about it, Shrek 2 and TLK both came out in much less competitive markets. When you have a ton of films aiming at the exact same audience, the potential for each one falls a bit.

Color me pleasantly surprised. As soon as I saw that 18.7% drop I was like "damn it Disney, way to overpredict" yet it actually came out OVER that number.August is going to be the best month of the summer as far as movies doing well. Pretty sure TMNT will do well next weekend and hopefully Guardians can manage a drop under 55%. Fingers crossed for some miraculous IM1 hold but I think the big Thursday previews will prevent that.

I think you missed my point entirely. It has absolutely nothing to do with them taking place in China and I never said that was specifically why they would like it. Personally I think China has some very beautiful locations and I enjoy seeing it on the screen.

China is going to eat the film series Hollywood has digested into shit like it's grade-A chocolate. Get ready for more Transformers, Pirates, probably an ASM taking place partly in China (an Oscorp deal or something) and much more shit we got tired of a long time ago.
