  1. September then October then February then January
  2. The pilot project will start in South Korea and if it is a success (which it will be in the most connected country on Earth), we'll see it expand geographically and more studios/movies. This is the future folks. Pro: As a movie-goer I applaud the (apparently) cheaper option. Certain movies though I will definitely watch in a theater. Con: As a box-office enthusiast, it will depress box-office grosses just as Thursday night grosses will do and make tracking more difficult. 3. I am part of the crowd that thinks that Avatar will be forgotten by 2015/2016. More so that the sequels are so far apart that it won't be able to capitalize on the first movie. But then I think about the 7 year gap between T1 and T2 and tell myself to STFU.
  4. Connect Henry Cavill to Martin Scorsese in Six Degrees of Seperation or less. Go!
  5. When was the last time we had 3 $40m+ grossers in one weekend? I know it has happened a few times before...
  6. I like how you guys are transforming the Friday thread into Saturday into the weekend thread. Oh yea, good bump for Iron Man 3. Perhaps I should do a Youtube reaction video for this weekend. Insane! Movie going must have been the #1 hobby this weekend for domestic.
  7. I remember checking weekend box-office totals in the newspaper as far back as 1993/1994. The earliest movie I remember actively tracking was Apollo 13 in 1995. 1997, I believe, was the year I really started closely following box-office performances. I vividly recall the hysteria on the box-office forum I went to around Titanic's amazing run.
  8. *sigh* http://www.boxofficemojo.com/yearly/chart/?yr=1999&p=.htm How I miss 1999. Here are JUST 10 of the storylines from that incredible year. * Edge of the seat anticipating whether Sleepy Hollow would cross $100 million * Star Wars, nuff said * Austin Powers over-performing in a big way * Notting Hill: Perfect example of counter-programming that works. * Blair Witch Project, nuff said * American Beauty: beautiful legs * Matrix, nuff said * Generals Daughter, over-performing * Wild Wild West, not meeting expectations but still crossing the 9 digit mark * Sixth Sense, nuff said
  9. Good point. How much of it is the fault of fans for hyping a movie up?
  10. As of 2010, James Franco was worth $20 million. He will appear in 10 movies this year alone. No thanks. http://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-celebrities/actors/james-franco-net-worth/

  12. Samsung bought 1 million copies of Jay-Z's new album to giveaway to customers before it released. I think these group sale campaigns by Walmart (Man of Steel) and Samsung are going to become increasingly common.
  13. The wonderful MoS theme in the trailer was virtually nonexistent in the movie . There were teasing hints throughout but nothing as soaring and epic as the trailer treatment (especially the 1:17-1:33 and 1:58-2:33 mark). I haven't heard the actual soundtrack but that defeats the purpose. It should have been in the movie. Ah well.
  14. The end credits for Seven Psycopaths are running as I type. I am hoping for an end-credits scene which will make this worth the hype. Highly overrated. One of the most overrated for 2012 films. I suppose it was a dark comedy but wasn't very funny and the writing could have been much better. It felt like a poor mans Coen Brothers.
