Tropical Storm Cindy made landfall on the Louisiana-Texas border around 7pm Wednesday, then cut a circular arc across the southeast towards Washington, DC. The bad weather would have extended far ahead of and behind the storm's actual center. Houston/Harris is an enormous market and Lafayette/Baton Rouge/New Orleans taken together aren't chopped liver, plus all the inland areas that were affected. This could account for the Wednesday drops being fairly harsh in spite of muted Tuesday increases, with Friday finally making it up.

Controversial opinion: If they do what I think they're going to do in JL, it's going to underperform not because it's hated by feminists but because it's hated by men. One of the good things people are saying about WW is that Steve Trevor is a very strong male character. Moms can take their boys to see it because they won't feel like they're being put down. Superman and Batman in BvS can in no way be called strong. Superman was just weak, and Batman was the male equivalent of when a writer thinks "strong female character" means "psychopathic bitch". I think they're going to continue this in JL by -
Yes, and if they try to do this it will backfire on them big time. Donald Trump is president today because the political leadership of both parties thought they could dictate to the rank and file voters who was or was not an acceptable candidate. If people want a binary rating system and they change RT so that it isn't a binary rating system, someone will create a new binary rating system to take its place. If this can't be done by a professional film site because Hollywood is keeping on the pressure, some non-professional will pick up the slack and the studios won't like one bit who that turns out to be. Think RT is bad now? Just wait until it's controlled by Reddit or 4chan or Grace Randolph or one of those Internet sociopaths who went around cracking jokes about Zach Snyder's daughter.

If we're making an Awesome Mix for this thread, how about "Put a Little Love in Your Heart" by Annie Lennox & Al Green? -

Thanks, that makes sense. I was thinking in terms of the $300M that was rumored for TASM2, but the context of the rumors was that $300M was a truly outrageous amount, and "truly outrageous" would have to be some levels above just high-end. This Deadline article says that AoU and CA:CW were $180M, and those are movies that you'd expect a studio to market as heavily as was reasonable: http://deadline.com/2016/05/captain-america-civil-war-opening-weekend-box-office-summer-records-1201750394/ -

So I guess the old metric of half again the production budget no longer holds? That would have given 87.5M for a 175M budget and 50M for the pre-reshoot 100M budget. What would be on the moderate and heavy side, 150M and 200M? Or is it more like 200M and 300M? -
I have an idea about what Luthor's motivation was. It's sick as hell, but Snyder did say once in an interview that he thought a story about Batman being raped in prison would be interesting, so I don't think I'm being unfair to him. Anyone who needs a trigger warning, consider yourself trigger warned and don't click the spoiler.

Well, if you're English, you've probably heard of Robbie Williams: How do you rate the morning sun? (Like the sun we will live to rise.) How many stars would you give to the moon? (Freak out in a moon age daydream, oh yeah.) I guess what I'm trying to say here is, MARVEL RULES OK! That's English too, innit?

Neither, if the reviews I'm reading are any indication. Consensus seems to be that Pratt and Lawrence did the best they could with the fairly icky material they were handed. Too early to know if the fans will agree with the critics of course, but if they do there may be talk that Pratt and Lawrence weren't paid enough. Warning about reviews: I'm not exaggerating that many critics think the material is icky, and there's also some anger at Sony that the trailers were misleading as to the real nature of the movie. Maybe because of this most of the reviews had major spoilers, a lot more than usual for a blockbuster. So if you don't want to be spoiled, best not read any reviews at all, unless a spoiler-tolerant friend vets them for you first.

Don't forget anal beads. Nobody's denying that they'd been used. (Personally I think most of that stuff was made up by WB's marketing department as a publicity stunt. Too much chance of alienating important talent, or more likely hostile workplace lawsuits from the PA's who would have actually opened any packages.)
