BD1 made 12,108,308, in its outing. With my cinema's numbers THG is making more then BD1, however we were really low compared to the rest of the circuit for that (yet one of the biggest for DH2), and I'm not sure how THG is going elsewhere.Sunday is crazy busy too!
So THG increased not only on friday, it increased by 40% here going into saturday. Which was around 50% more business then Twilight (though we were way below normal for that).I'm going for a 10m+ weekend.BMH was selling out all day, 21 Jump st was selling out in a large theatre too, Hugo was still pulling numbers Busiest day since the 1st/2nd of Jan
The Best Marigold Hotel is steaming along down here. Thursday numbers were about half of THG, and friday pre-sales were about half of THG to. We were really trying hard to market it though so that may have just been my theatre.
At my cinema today:
Thursday sales for THG was 85% of BD1's Thursday sales excluding midnight.
Including midnight sales, THG was 73% of BD1's total thursday sales.
THG has already sold 36% of BD1's total tickets for Friday, which if the rough 60% walk-up percentage from today continues, equates to it having 86% of BD1's ticket sales for tomorrow.
So with that I'm thinking it'll get just under a 10m weekend.
And my maths probably sucks so yeah
Saw it last night and pretty much everyone loved it (with the usual nitpicking of course!).Already lots of pre-sales down here and i'll report back how its OD does here once I work tonight.btw we have 3/10 screens playing it, which is the same as BD1 and half of DH2's screens.
Its all gold class though so they don't really count that much as they are much smaller cinemas..My cinema which had around 1 full theatre for BD1 (split over 2 theatres) and had 5 sold out theatres for DH2, has only filled slightly less then half of a theatre.. Weekend sales however still are staying very very strong. We have 3 theatres playing it with a session time every hour I see from 6pm-9pm easily selling out on thursday through to saturday.
Hugo hit $10m! Fantastic for it over here considering it didn't even get to $100m in the US. The descendants also hit 15m :)I think John Carter might actually hold up decently against THG this weekend.I'm going for a $7.5-$9.5m opening for THG, but with a small midnight. Pre-ticket sales have been selling faster for both thursday and friday nights compared with the midnight sessions from what I can see.
Btw, at least with Village, BD2 trailer will not be playing with the hunger games, but instead Dark Shadows (as its village) will be exclusively played in front of all showings :)That should raise awareness!
Midnight sessions aren't selling great down here in Melbourne, about 120 tickets sold per complex (30-50% full of one cinema), but awareness is very high. Going to have some great legs here and I can see a $8-$9m first week and a $5-$6 second week, maybe even more.
Its actually doing decent in my cinema here. Nothing massive by could be a $2-$3million if its consistent across the country. Though I would expect in the $1.5-$2.5 range.
