  1. Stronger #4 selling right now on MT. Might have a higher PTA than Patriots Day for the weekend. I did not see this coming.

  3. any talks at your theater about shutting down 3D? It's always the animated movies that get 3D, and no one is going to pay for all that with the kids. I saw headlines for an article about how Kingsman being in IMAX 2D might help stop 3D.
  4. I personally saw no hype for Kingsman, nor felt any. However I disagree with the morning reactions to Kingsman's mid-September preview #. That 3.4 million blew me away! It doubled Magnificent Seven which had 1.75 and a 35 weekend. Other than It, I think this is the highest Thursday preview for September BY FAR.
  5. These days it seems that the new openers big Tuesday jump matches the next Friday .....if its going to loose some showtimes and WOM is mediocre. I have been see it happening alot lately. Throughout the entire year, too!
  6. Home Again final # had lessened the distance between myself and TalismanRing by 0.04 percent**
  7. I think it might drop rougher than expected in its third weekend. It should loose all premiums and IMAX. It might still sell out, but with smaller capacity.
  8. 2 movies open in 4,000 theaters this upcoming weekend and Friend Request opens in 3,000+. If Spider-Man makes 1 million next weekend, its PTA is going to have to rise.
  9. It made 35,307,200 during weekdays last week. It dropped roughly 45.3% from last weekend minus previews. applying a 45.3% drop to the weekdays gives 19.67 million. 238.48 14-day total. Perhaps it makes 31.52 in its third weekend leaving us with a 17-day total of 270 million.
  10. Man of Steel ended its second Sunday with 210.1 after a 41.3 million weekend. It would finish with 291 which is roughly 2x the 2nd weekend.
  11. because It is rated R and teens would need to buy a ticket for something that they will not get carded for.
  12. I feel like some of the movies got propped up because of It's R-rating causing people to buy tickets for other movies and sneak into It. A similar circumstance happened when 8 Mile opened giving tiny drops for I Spy, The Ring, Santa Clause 2.... 1 N 8 Mile Uni. $51,240,555 - 2,470 - $20,745 $51,240,555 $41 1 2 1 The Santa Clause 2 BV $24,734,523 -14.7% 3,352 +2 $7,379 $60,038,513 $65 2 3 2 The Ring DW $15,507,802 -14.4% 2,927 +119 $5,298 $85,601,983 $48 4 4 3 I Spy Sony $8,809,800 -30.9% 3,182 - $2,768 $24,487,959 $70 2 5 4 Jackass: The Movie Par. $7,106,194 -44.2% 2,532 +2 $2,806 $53,198,646 $5 3 6 6 My Big Fat Greek Wedding IFC $5,854,005 +4.1% 1,975 -2 $2,964 $192,857,165 $5 30 7 7 Sweet Home Alabama BV $3,810,839 -17.1% 2,004 -437 $1,901 $118,548,539 $30 7 http://www.boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/?yr=2002&wknd=45&p=.htm Also, I think that It also had this affect on movies in It's second weekend reflecting on the good hold for Hitman's Bodyguard opening against American Assassin. Most movies fell last week coming of strong Labor Day weekend holds but movies like Annabelle and Spider-Man have shown that 8-Mile effect both this weekend and last weekend. Lastly, this weekend the affect has happened too with the aformentioned Hitman's Bodyguard and even I bet mother! had numbers propped up with people buying tickets for mother! so they could sneak into It. Expect large drops for everything next weekend.
  13. I need to make a comment on the budget of these action movies this year. American Assassin - $33 The Hitman's Bodyguard - $30 Logan Lucky - $29 Baby Driver - $34 Atomic Blonde - $30 Kidnap - $21 ....... The Space Between Us - $30 Resident Evil - $40 Underworld - $35 John Wick 2 - $40 Collide - $21.5 I feel like this year is setting some kind of record for bringing the budget down, yet keeping the action high.
