http://deadline.com/2017/10/tyler-perry-boo-2-a-madea-halloween-geostorm-bombs-blade-runner-2049-weekend-box-office-1202191950/ 2ND UPDATE, MIDDAY: Lionsgate’s Tyler Perry‘s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween at this point in time looks to ring in $8M today at 2,388 theaters for a $22M-$23.5M start. The original built up word of mouth throughout the weekend and played beyond it’s core African American demographic. We’ll see if there’s a similar trend later tonight. Boo 2 is critic proof at 10% Rotten. "Boo 2 is critic proof at 10% Rotten." - now there's a statement. -

one thing I like about this movie and others like it around the same time is that they were being demanded to be made. With the rising technology after JP, Godzilla was being demanded!!!! One year prior, Dantes Peak, Volcano, Starship Troopers, and The Fifth Element flopped, while The Lost World set records and the Star Wars SE dominated. Other creature features in 97, the year before Godzilla and driving awareness were The Relic, Anaconda, Men in Black, Spawn, Mimic, Mortal Kombat, and Alien Resurrection.

You are right. Spider-Man had a terrible OW so hopefully Thor 3 is tracking 50% ahead of Spider-Man up until release to get that 120M+OW -
I am disappointed in The Foreigner's debut. Yeah, it was a good # and all, and above expectations, but I still felt something missing if its box office did not break out to the levels I wanted it to. It was a movie I felt excited for. I think 20 years ago, this movie would have opened up in 1997 with the same exact number (which would be like 20+ with inflation). I guess I wanted more then the limited fanbase showing up. This weekend we get an *insert Blumhouse horror* = instant #1 and it just seems so easy for studios to look at the schedule and pick their #1 slot. I think Blade Runner 2049 will hit 100M now. I predicted nearly a 60% drop, but since it held on and comfortably moved past 60M at the 10-day mark with a weekend above 15, I think those numbers are good enough to make 100.000 a fair goal. I wonder how My Little Pony will hold for week #3.

Lost Highway was allright. I liked Gattaca better but both of them would be near the bottom of my top 25 list. Still solid scores!!! Maybe if I saw them a long time ago, I would appreciate them more. I have been overwhelmed by so many preceeding films, it is hard for me to fall in love with Gattaca. As for Lost Highway, I'd say it is a mix of mother! and Mulholland Drive so definitely see it if you haven't. It is 1997 official.
