  1. should have released this over Christmas. it could have gotten 3,600 theaters and booted out whatever opened in early December/November. First Man is going to drop more now because new movies are opening in the coming weeks. If those movies can be stopped, First Man will stay in 3,000 screens for a few more weeks.
  2. cannot believe Jumanji made 400 against The Last Jedi. hmmm... can any other simple movies be put against Jumanji 2 and Star Wars 3 that are predetermined to make in excess of 300 million?
  3. It seems like Christopher Nolan and James Cameron see their movies through to the end before getting started, I feel like the rest of the ones who make movies don't do this. They just make a big mess, cast as they go, and build to make. Maybe some of the more abstract ones like Birdman and mother! or the hipster crap like Isle of Dogs can go full circle just because they put a pretty little bow on the picture.... (then you get another forgetful film like Halloween) and whatever bullshit Blumhouse takes over with. but if you were to make a fist with one hand, and grip onto your fist with the other hand, it feels like this grip only works with Nolan and JC films for the moment.... can't think of any others. MCU is Disney now so it will always be 'storybooked' down to the storybook-land kingdom.
  4. I thought that was funny flat-earther FTW scene when the new Loomis doctor flipped out and killed that guy. It was ridiculous and kept me guessing at the movie with suspended belief. The H20 bathroom scene was really well done, I thought it was disgusting. The other encounters with Michael Myers seemed a little unnecessary.... almost like they were each 5 minute existential encounters and dealt with impressions by the figure. Some of that stuff, a lot with cuts to different scenes seemed to add to the runtime. I was mehh at the gun part. The whole thing seemed illogical. the positive though is there is a lot of redeeming rewards throughout the movie, but some of the abstract here and other franchises that require super-focus to completely digest like the and that Snyderverse seemed really geared towards like an Adderall mindset IMO. Hereditary is another good comp, but Hereditary starts off like you are getting served with the alphabet but after an hour, you wonder what is going on with it.
  5. I feel bad for those who bet/lost their entire life savings on the Brewers going to the World Series.
  6. I demand a recount on the tickets purchases versus people who actually showed up and watched Venom

  8. I think a casual Halloween fan should be capable of drifting into Halloween part 11 pretty wasted and be able to access what is going on from memory. From personal experience, Star Wars films are always easy to just drop in on. It is like the plot is hardwired into the brain. the new Halloween seemed to be more like the Zombie ones
  9. movies that break out big and become forgotten. sometimes with movies that have partial feminist themes like Halloween, fans will just move away from it or move around it and continue on with different films to watch. Jumanji was a good one to kill time with and made 400 million against Last Jedi's 620. I expect there to be some one hit wonders this December to fill in time with
  10. initial trailers had Expendables-like action. maybe it was an overall showcase, or just bad scheduling, but I think it could have broke 20 opening weekend.
  11. no, I'm saying Venom, Star/Born and Venom are to be one-hit wonders, and like Jurassic World, monster of the week X-files episodes whereas Halloween 8 will be on AMC for decades to come. I think Hunter Killer was looking at 15, but has now dropped to 10. action movies might have timed out by then? Halloween should be WOM immune so I don't see where Hunter Killer becomes first choice material at the ticket window over the rest of the holdovers. Who knows, I stay away from TV advertisements so I barely saw a glimpse of Halloween promotion. Somehow I've dodged a lot of tv spots for 6 months. Is Hunter Killer promoting strong? Any advertising tv commercial #s??
  12. one hit wonders that leave a sour taste in ones mouth. Hunter Killer opens next week, looks exciting, then the week after BR and Nutcracker (which could see a limited run) open and there could be a lot of audience fatigue. Don't Breathe held a much much better audience reception than Halloween.
  13. movies like these are the reason why films like Bohemian Rhapsody could flop. they are going to scare away all the moviegoers. The Grinch opens a week later, but will probably only see 60 if people are in the mood for film then. Fantastic Beasts seems to be the next 80 million or so expecting to take/consume of from citizens
  14. that is another flaw with the new Halloween. it was unevenly edited. even for a Halloween film, it was tough to follow.
