  1. Could All the Money in the World do better than expected? It seems like the only adult Christmas wide release to have any buzz. Nobody cares about Father Figures and Downsizing plus both have horrible reviews.
  2. I don’t care about Marvel/X-Men shit or avatar. What’s gonna happen to fox searchlight and non-comic book/franchise films?
  3. Well im not waiting for a shoe to drop that might not even come to fruition. So i think we should go back to discussion of the film and it's BO.
  4. The movie is already out so it can’t be dead. But if you’re talking about Oscar chances, maybe. Although, Casey Affleck was just rewarded with an Oscar last year. So it seems rules only apply for certain people.
  5. They only said it was going wide. Not specifying the theater count.
  6. This release has been planned for months in advance it has nothing to do with any potential backlash on the horizon.
  7. Some movies weren’t ready but they could have and should have given Spider-Man and War for The Planet of the Apes some space. August needed a bigger movie besides Annabelle 2. Some people say Valerian could have moved but I don’t think that would have made much anywhere, it was just too niche and had unappealing leads.
  8. I don’t think Lady Bird or Three Billboards will have that many theaters, probably closer to 500-600. They’ll do a wider reexpansion in January after Oscar nominations. -Shape of Water should have 1000+ -Justice League will probably still have Over 1000. - possibly The Star, Murder on the Orient Express or Daddy’s Home can keep 1000 theaters as well
  9. Proud Mary will do fine, Sony doesn't need to market it much until a few weeks before and Taraji can do alot of the heavy lifting on social media, where her target audience is anyway. This is one of those film genres catering to urban audiences where BOT always misses the mark.
  10. Nothing about it’s performance so far suggests better reception. Let’s wait and see the drops for the next weeks.
  11. I think they should have gone wide with Darkest Hour this week too or atleast early December. A lot of specialty/drama films are going wide during Christmas (Shape of Water, Disaster Artist, I Tonya, All the money in the World) then you have The Post, Molly’s Game and Phantom Thread going wide in early January. Tough market ahead. This Thanksgiving is pretty wide open with only Roman J Isreal as the new adult competition. Murder on the Orient Express should hold very well this week because of the lack of options.
