Exactly, besides there are sub-categories to the horror genre. Slasher, monster/creature, paranormal, etc... It's never been about just one thing.

They're smart going with kids. Get that family audience hooked.

American Made, American Assassin and Kingsman all share similar audiences. Studios were dumb with the scheduling of these three.

She's not literally getting 20m per movie. That was only for Passengers. She took a very small fee for mother! 13m production budget if I remember correctly.

I prefer not to have all the plot points given to me in trailers. This is why I usually don't watch 2nd or 3rd trailers.

Supposedly they moved it up because Darren didn't want his movie spoiled for general audiences.

I saw the trailer and was wondering why it's getting so overhyped as well. It looks nice but Edge of Seventeen and countless other teen films did the same thing. I think a screenplay nomination and Metcalf are its ceilings for Oscar nominations.

Both openers this week have bad release dates to be honest. AA contending with Kingsman next week (losing all of its potential audience) and mother! against It. I don't know what the studios were thinking. If they pushed AA to Labor Day weekend, and left mother! In Oct. they probably could have gotten bigger openings.

Octavia has some pull with audiences, she's a sweet likable actress and usually chooses quality projects.

Still better than IT.
