  1. Most of the negative stories about Titanic were not about that the film was bad, but about how trouble the production was, and how it had gone way way overbudget. Which was true. But remain pretty skeptical of the artistic taste of many in the film industry nowdays. TOo many of them have no real love of film, they just see it as product. And that is what is different between now and the golden age of the Studio system For all there many faults..and they had many..the Mayers, the Warners, the Zanuck, the Selznkics, lover movies and being in the movie business. That is not true of many in the businesss today.
  2. My loss o respect for Johnson is based not so much on the film itself, but on the whole way he handled it's not very good reception. His attempts to prove it was some kind of great sucess were just pathetic.
  3. Hey, I would be dissapointed if he did'nt. That has become one of his trade marks. See no reason why it could not work with Superman. My favorite musical scene in a Gunn film was the fight to "Just a Little Bit CLoser" in GOTG 2.
  4. And My opinion is to make a film about a civil war in future America and not have a political take beyond "War is Bad" is a major cop out.
  5. yeah, is ounds more and more like another Sci Fi Futuristic shoot em up. Nothing wrong with that, except is is a missed opportunity. I will give it a miss. The "Fallout" series on Amazon Prime seems to be a much better get for some apocalupitc fun.
  6. I have come to the opinion that both the left and right in the USA are full of loons.
  7. I think a film about a potential CIvil War in America that does not take a political stand is very much chickening out and makes the whle exercise meaningless except as just another shoot em up. One of the very, very, very, few times I think Randolph has a point, and even then she expresses it very badly.
  8. As much as I dislke Grace Randloph she has one point right; Nobody who really understood American politics would have California and Texas as allies.
  9. People are very good at reading things into movies that are not really there. The baddies in this seem to be like those in the Hunger Games movies. evil rulers who politica are vague enough to you can read into them any ppolitical group you don't like. Ah, well, I dropped any hope of this bein halfway revelent when I read that California and Texas were allies.... It's Grace Randolph, what do you expect?
  10. Black Adam seems to be pretty obscure charecter to build a cinematic comic universe around. Ad please don't give me "Iron Man" as a reply, Iron Man was much better known then Black Adam. I have lost a certain amount of respect for Johnson over this; I think he let his ego take over and that is not a good thing. WB was never going to give him creative control of the DCU.
  11. He has been paid. 2O million, and on top of that no doubt he has a piece of the gross.
  12. Making in music, or any other form of show business; had always been very very hard. The odds have always been against you.
  13. The studios heads are not taking about if it good or not, they are saying it will be a hard sell.
  14. Maybe the studio heads should remember what happned to Jack Woltz, head of Woltz Pictures, in the God Father.
  15. I doubt they and Coppola could come to terms. He probably wants a long thretrical run for this, which sort of runs counter to Apple's strategy. And, of course, this could just be Coppola manuevering to get a deal.
  16. The Irony is the prodicers of this film, from what I have read, have soft peddeled any reference to contemporaty politics in the ifllm. Of course I am cynical enough to think the studio is happy about the fuss, it is giving them the kind of free publicity they could not afford to buy in real life. Pretty sure it will end up being ja semi post apoclyptic shoot em up with a gimmick.
  17. Agreed. Of course COpolla c ould be using the classic tactic of asking for more then he knows he going to get so he can bargain down.
  18. God, that looks terrible. It did remind me how much better a similiar ship scene in "Guns of Navarone" was.
  19. I still think that the script was not very good is the main reason this film flopped.
  20. I have not watche it yer, but I undersant the constant homages to the Disney classics get tired after a while are are not at all clever.
  21. "Even your name of your brains will be on that contract in five minutes". Now I am more curious then ever to see this.
