Ok that THR report has me really pissed of right now. There's a big difference between Twilight and NM opening. It's almost 3 times as big. That person should be shot.
Why isnt he focusing on Avatar 2!?
He needs to get every other poject out of his mind so he can have this out my 2015.
This is one movie that I have been looking forward to the most, ever since I walk in to watch Avatar.
Take a chill pill. Two things I have to say about this:
1) Build a fucking bridge and get over it - Apart from Battleship, a matter of 3-15 days early isnt going to kill anyone, and if it did, well they have problems not even the best can deal with.
2) This makes up for all of those years where OS markets would have to wait months and months to get a film.
Pretty nice numbers for Lorax and Project X, but I cannot wait til Friday, and especially Saturday, to see what epic numbers The Lorax pulls off again!$20m + Saturday?!
I think it will be, but on a smaller scale. However, speaking of Red Dog, when do we think we'll next get our next home grown smash ?It's rare enough an Australian film making $5m or $10, let alone $25m!
When I'm at work, people keep reacting with the one word every time they see the trailer: Avatar. Now I don't know if that is a good thing or not. It'd be great if that means they'll think it'll be as good (opinion-based, but a movie doesn't $3b for nothing), or if it means it'll turn people as it looks like a rip off of Avatar.
Prior to this current box office surge, I had low low low expectations for that. However after the past few days, Im going to have seriously reconsider my predictions.
I was just checking the midnights at Event Cinemas, no sellouts from QLD and NSW, however Chermside has 5 sessions at midnight, with 1 VMAX and 1 normal, and 2 Gold Class basically full.
^We have been having incredible holds recently.I think we went through a phase like the US (just not as long-a-drought) where people wouldnt rush to see films OW, but rather wait to hear if they were good enough to spend $20 + candy bar on.
