  1. The way he said it was not contemptuous. He wanted, I think, to say that Americans love america, and that this foreign film on foreign characters is not for them.
  2. It's from an interview in the biggest television news in France. It's how good I can translate it but the way he said it was not contemptuous. He wanted, I think, to say that Americans love america, and that this foreign film on foreign characters is not for them.
  3. Oh yes It did. It's typically the movie that release once... Moonlight on the other hand. It's good, and well directed but the subject is much more basic...
  4. During an interview in France Luc Besson ironized on the failure of Valerian in the USA: " Never one of my films has worked in the USA" he said " Sci-fi movies that work in the United States are necessarily centered on the US and their heroes are necessarily superheroes. This is not the case of my film. " The movie should have one of the ten widest release ever.
  5. Even the monday is bad for Valerian By the way, during his biggest interview in France Luc Besson ironized on the failure of Valerian in the USA: " Never one of my films has worked in the USA" he said " Sci-fi movies that work in the United States are necessarily centered on the US and their heroes are necessarily superheroes. This is not the case of my film. "
  6. If this is 5days it's good regarding its OD. That should led it into a 1 mil opening. I had it at 1.5m before the release but it's still great.
  7. I think Valerian is Luc Besson last film. After this debacle, he will not rise again I think, and will devote himself to production. What you need to know is that he had been deeply hurt by the American failure of the Fifth Element in 97. And yet it had made $68m .. Valerian will do half as much!
  8. Dunkirk is where I think it would be. I dont see the 50$ guaranteed at this point in fact. Girls Trip may be a bit disappointing. Valerian is less worst than I was thinking... DUN : 47 GT : 23 VAL : 18
  9. What displeases me is that I have this unpleasant impression that for pure entertainment to be praised by critics, they must now respect the Marvel recipe: I mean the media that spit on Bat V Sup which is trying something different, praise Wonder Woman which is never original and have a last act as painful as the one of BVS...
  10. The Fifth Element is at 43% on TopCritics. WTF. This is like the cultest movie of the nineties with Jurassic Park, Pulp Fiction and Titanic.
  11. Interstellar is a very particular situation, it has a very very strong multiplier because of the next monday because holiday and I think it caused this lower OD. Dunkirk OW is probably going to be inferior to Interstellar one, which is, consedering the marketing in France + DUNKIRK = dissapointing.
  12. I feel so stupid to be so upset by the failure of what is just a movie. But crap, Besson is an amazing person that's doing sooo much for french cinema. I mean he managed to create new studios so that France could afford bigger projects (La Cité du Cinéma which is not a big success either ), and he created a cinema school which is FREE in order that no matter the social background you can work in the cinema industry. This guy is incredible. Valerian is his biggest baby. And it is gonna bomb and critics because it's so difference of the Marvel Blockbuster Recipe trash it
  13. So sad for french cinema in fact. Valerian was probably its last attempt to make blockbusters. I can't see how foreigner distributors could trust Europa Corp now. And I think that the economical situation of Europa Corp is gonna be so bad that they're gonna be bought by a Chinese company...
  14. Dunkirk : 143 005 admissions (about 900k for the full OW) / 15th OD of the year Baby Driver : 52 109 admissions (about 270k for the full OW) (Get Out dit 15k / Arrival did 42k) Spider-Man Homecoming has the worst OW of every Spider Man movie SM3: 3 582 000 admissions SM2: 2 100 000 SM : 1 903 000 ASM2: 1 249 000 ASM : 1 014 000 SM:H : 981 000 Despicable Me 3 has decent legs and keep the leadership, should finish around 4.8m admissions or so. More than DM2, much less than Minions.
  15. Lmao no, it could have 99% and It would still bomb so... (and lowest is the RT more the chinese like it so... maybe)

  17. "Who is going to tell the truth? While David Fincher was announced for the directing of "The Truth about the Harry Quebert Affair", Genius Films finally said it was Asif Kapadia who will occupy the post. Asif Kapadia is a director who specializes in documentaries, but who is making his first steps as director in the mini-series produced by David Fincher "Mindhunter". David Fincher said he was constrained by a schedule conflict, he thinks he can not being able to fully invest in Harry Quebert. "When a story is so exciting, it deserves a fully invested director." declared Fincher " Working with him on Mindhunter I was surprised by his talent, it is obvious that I proposed him the position of director. I will therefore only be a producer on this film, which will be the Autumn event." Harry Quebert is still slated for release in Autumn (delayed to October 6 though). The main character of this polar adapted from the French phenomenon book will be portrayed by Ryan Gosling. The actor, just like the director have already signed for the sequel. "BWAAAAAAH" They're coming... Genius Films have proudly announced that their partnership with Ubisoft will go further than the "Rabbids The BIG Adventure" movie scheduled this spring. While the sequel is currently finalized by Pierre Coffin and his team, a second team, directed this time by Mike Thurmeier is already working ... on the sequel! Indeed, confident in the potential of the franchise Ubisoft and Genius Films wished to start the work well before the release of the first to prevent the films are too spaced in time. Currently entitled "Rabbids XMAS" the sequel should be released 18 months after the first part. It is even rumored that a spin-off centered on Rayman could also be in preparation, and that Genius Films would like to hire Travis Knight to lead the project. We also recall that an another Ubisoft game should be adapted soon by GF: Beyond Good&Evil is indeed in preparation. (am I using this right ?)
  18. Moved Harry Quebert to October 6 (now directing by Asif Kapadia since David Fincher quits and now just produce).
