  8. GENIUS FILMS YEAR 1 LINEUP : Runaway, A Road Adventure (February 24) - Action Comedy Road Trip Oscar Pill (March 17) - 3D - Heroic Fantasy Rabbids: The Big Adventure (March 31) - 3D - Animation/Live Action Comedy The Curse of Monkey Island (July 4) - IMAX 3D - Adventure Dangerous Beauty (July 21) - Horror America! (October 20) - Nature Documentary Trump's America (November 8 - Wide) - Documentary Love at first sight (November 17 - Wide) - Romance the truth about the HARRY QUEBERT affair (December 1) - Crime/Thriller Almost a drag for the studio, Dangerous Beauty will finally come out in the middle of the summer to avoid the fierce and surprising competition that is expected in September/October. The studio's biggest customer remains on the blockbuster Monkey Island, which is still awaited for Independence Day weekend and will benefit from a record number of theatres. Genius hopes it will be the event of July. With a release in March, Genius sets things straight: he hopes Oscar Pill will be their Hunger Games or Divergent to them. Five books have been released, so as many films could see the light of day. Finally, Harry Quebert's release has been postponed, the reason? The studio hopes that a later release will allow him to increase his Oscar chances. This will also make it possible to stand out from the many thrillers that are released in September/October.

  13. $30m for Valerian OW ? Would be good I think... It would lead to a $50m total
  14. Will finish my films this week or the next week-end I think
  15. Week-End numbers (Wed - Sun) : (est for some because of Long Ascencion week-end) APES 3 : 465 835 (-47%) CARS 3 : 456 100 (-45%) VALERIAN : 446 253 (-27%) ANNABELLE 2 : 372 000 DUNKIRK : 181 000 -25% THE DARK TOWER : 141 060 YO-KAI WATCH : 85 847 SLEEPLESS : 82 786 Comp for Annabelle Conjuring 2 : 598 744 Anabelle 1 : 428 878 ANNABELLE 2 : 372 000 Conjuring : 280 389 Solid drop for Apes 3 and Cars. Very Nice for Valerian which will do 4mil admissions after all.
  16. MGM & StudioCanal are producing the adaptation of the swiss bestseller "The Truth about Harry Quebert affair" It's gonna be a mini serie (10 parts), directed by Jean Jacques Annaud (it's his first tv show and he directed The Name of the Rose and Seven years in Tibet). The american broadcaster is Epix (that MGM owns) but it will be TF1 in France (biggest french channel). Patrick Dempsey will have the role of Quebert The Story from Wikipedia : The novel is set in a coastal New Hampshire town (called Aurora in the original version and Somerset in the English translation). The protagonist, Marcus Goldman, is a successful young novelist who needs inspiration for his next book. Marcus heads to New Hampshire to stay with his college professor, Harry Quebert, to focus on his writing. When the body of fifteen-year-old Nola Kellergan is found 33 years after she went missing and Quebert is accused of her murder, Marcus works to uncover the truth. The result of his investigation becomes his next book. The book was really addictive
  17. WTF! They are apparently making a TV Show based on Harry Quebert Affair, the book I choose to make a movie on released in 09/Y1 !
  18. I claim Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator... YUP. Year 2 - Valentine's day is gonna be FUN
  19. Yup, it did almost half of its Opening week-end (5 first days in France), on its OD. It was released at the last day of "La Fête du Cinema" an annual event that takes place at the beginning of july, during 4 days the cinema ticket only cost 4€ (instead of the average 7.5€ ticket). Awful OD for The Dark Tower : 37 770 admissions...
  20. Opening Day of the Conjuring saga : Conjuring 2 : 227 014 admissions (x6.5 ratio TOTAL/OD) Annabelle 2 : 102 663 admissions Annabelle : 78 834 admissions (x19.5 ratio TOTAL/OD) Conjuring : 66 693 admissions (x17.5 ratio TOTAL/OD)
  21. 2PM Paris : 1- The Dark Tower (1014 admissions) 3- Annabelle 2 (914 admissions) Pretty low for both so. The Dark Tower is gonna do 300k admissions this week at best. Very hard to say for Annabelle tho. The first did 926 admissions but it was not during vacations. Conjuring 2 did 2567 admissions at the same hour... But we have to wait for the OD number to be sure... We have the actual number of the Week (8/2 - 8/8): source: cine-directors.net The Apes finally won the week, but Cars 3 was very close and finally is increasing a bit from the second movie. Valerian is doing a ok-ish drop (Wonder Woman did 50%, Dunkirk did 42%). Despicable Me 3 is now the #1 of the year and will probably keep this position until Star Wars 8 (or maybe "C'est la Vie" the new movie of Intouchables directors could surprise). Dunkirk is gonna finish around 2.5m it's not bad... but because of the story and the setting in France I was thinking it could come close to 4m... On monday/tuesday only, Cars 3 was first, Valerian second and Apes was third. Rang TITRE Entrées Variation hebdo Cumul (Millions) Budget Nbre de copies Moy / Copie 1 War for the Planet of the Apes 1 086 000 New 1,086 150 M$ 645 1 684 2 Cars 3 1 078 000 New 1,078 - M$ 667 1 612 3 Valerian 835 000 - 49 % 2,475 197,5 M€ 970 861 4 Despicable Me 3 330 000 - 42 % 4,751 80 M$ 762 433 5 Dunkirk 329 000 - 39 % 1,794 100 M$ 672 489
