  1. Got my tickets. They had some available for a Tuesday special showing, but I went with the Thursday night IMAX. Excited for this!
  2. Watched this on HBO and generally enjoyed it (not a huge Batman fan, so take with a grain of salt). It did drag for me, I'll be honest. I felt like everyone was even speaking veeerrrry sloooowwwwly. But, Pattinson did a very good job. I liked the story, overall, except for it just sort of plodding along a bit. Biggest disappointment was Catwoman. She was lackluster to me. Certainly compared to prior iterations. But, overall, happy to get to watch it with my free HBO, enjoyed it, and also happy not to have paid actual money or had to leave my house.
  3. I got opening night AMC tickets for the IMAX pretty easily this morning by getting in the virtual queue at about 7:50am CST. However, I couldn't buy any additional tickets after I got those. Kept getting an error message. At least I got the important ones, though! ETA: Now it says I have a 28 minute wait...
  4. Have to admit, this trailer was pulling at the right nostalgic strings. It's definitely the kind of movie that screams "big screen". Someone mentioned it upthread, but this might be one movie that weirdly benefits from the delay with the whole Ukraine situation making it feel a bit more relevant.
  5. I honestly found Smith's behavior very disturbing. I'm sure because I bring my own baggage to the whole thing, but I'd be saying the same thing if Jada was the one who hit Rock or if it had been Wanda Sykes making the joke and Smith slapping her. It was just such a fast escalation to physical violence, and yes, I thought the joke was bad and mean, but I think that about a lot of Rock's humor over the years and I don't think he should be beaten for it. Smith's reaction really bothered me, not going to lie, but all the people cheering it on are really surprising to me, as well. Maybe this is more normalized than I realized.
  6. I did wonder if they would have the ad-supported D+ option coincide with releasing this on D+, though it seems advertisers are mostly after the SW and Marvel content. Looking forward to this no matter where it lands.
  7. I mean, yes? For me, personally, seeing another Batman movie isn't worth it. An hour shorter would make it a lot more palatable and work a lot better with my schedule. I'm a single mom. Work full time. My off hours are precious. I do enjoy movies a lot and following box office, but that doesn't mean I'm obligated to be interested in everything that comes out? I'm glad it is a great experience for you and other people, though, and have no ill will against the movie or anything. Hope it does great. I look forward to sitting at home and watching it on HBO. Going to the theater for this just isn't something worthwhile for me, personally, when it will be free and in my home in a month or so. To each their own, of course, and I'm glad you liked it. It's just a movie in the end.
  8. That seems pretty good to me for a movie like this. Everyone I know personally is just planning to watch it on HBO in April, especially with higher ticket prices and the runtime. It would be easily 4 hours of my time to go see this, which I'm just not willing to give up. Small sample, obviously.
  9. Tickets for the BTS concert from Korea showing went on sale this morning. AMCs around here have 2 shows, 1 day only (March 12), and seems to be selling well, though they are in smaller theaters. Had to get tickets for my daughter and her friends first thing this morning. $35 per ticket. Couple of showings already sold out except for handicap. Obviously, Kpop fans are ready to return to the theater lol. Should be fun.
  10. Definitely a lot of availability for opening night in the Dallas area, even for IMAX and Dolby. Friday evening sales look decent so far. I honestly expected it to be a harder ticket to get, but I guess those really excited about it are going to the early screenings.
  11. The accents didn't bother me, but the hair was just ridiculously comical and distracting. I don't care if it was accurate.
  12. This was just not entertaining or well made. I don't know where the money went. The fights, the effects, nothing is memorable. There were some interesting ideas that were toyed with, but ultimately, nothing really came from them. Disappointing, at best. Alas, another franchise bites the dust.
  13. I'm looking forward to this, but glad I get to watch it on HBO. The sequels were such let downs. I may love this one, but I'd rather not spend actual money on it, so if it were not available on HBO, I'd probably skip it. I know that's not a popular take around here, but those "maybe it won't suck" movies are nice to have at home instead of $50 on tickets and snacks.
  14. My local theater added a bunch of showtimes for the 16th. Only the Dolby and IMAX theaters are near sold out. The digital showings have tons of availability at the moment.
  15. Couldn't get AMC to work last night, so just gave up and got them this morning when I woke up to get daughter ready for school, which worked fine. Plenty of seats available at that time. I got the 6:40pm IMAX and the 4pm Dolby with good seats, and the digital showings hadn't sold hardly any at all. Definitely not like TFA around here, at least not yet. I had to drive nearly an hour away after everything at my nearby theater sold out completely for TFA. Not even like EG, really, once the websites caught up. It was pretty easy to get good seats this morning at my choice of shows. I should have given up sooner last night, but that darn queue kept getting down to 10 minutes and then jumping up to more than an hour. Argh. Still, obviously this is going to do great, and I'm so glad to see the excitement.
  16. My AMC showed one IMAX showing nearly sold out, but then when I tried to buy tickets, it wouldn't let me actually purchase, but when I went back to the seating chart, it showed the seats I had selected as gone. When I tried a different showtime, the seating chart showed no seats sold, which I doubt was right either. So, basically, who knows. Welp, my AMC queue just went from 38 minutes back to "more than an hour" so I think AMC is just messing with us trying to fix things lol. Off to bed.
  17. *sigh* I'm glad to see people excited for the movie, but damn, this waiting and not knowing what might be left when I finally make it out of the queue really sucks.
  18. It's ticket hunger games again! AMC started early, so I got in okay, but could not get it to ever complete a purchase, the the whole thing crapped out. I've been stuck at 2 minutes waiting for 15 minutes.
  19. Saw this over Thanksgiving with the whole family. It was a lot of fun. I think everyone from the kids to my 73 year old mom enjoyed it. The first GB is probably not something that can ever be recaptured, but this was fun, respectful, and just all around an entertaining family movie.
  20. Caught this on HBO the other night. Will Smith did a great job and deserves all the accolades. The young actresses were very appealing, but I honestly was left somewhat uninspired and deflated at the end for what should be an amazing story, mainly because the focus on the Dad, I think, which left most of the other characters pretty one-note. It wasn't a bad movie or anything. It was free, so I got my money's worth. It was just...kind of eh for me. The girls seemed so charming and interesting on the surface, but there had to be a lot more going on there, and their story seemed to just be begining by the end of the movie. That story seems really compelling. The Dad was certainly a complicated character and seemed to love his family, but he also seemed like a jerk half the time, both to his family and to others, so he wasn't really someone to cheer for except that I wanted to see the girls succeed, almost despite him, really. I don't know. It was just ultimately unsatisfying, but I felt there was a much more interesting story in there that I would have enjoyed a lot more. I'm not a tennis person, so maybe that was some of it. Maybe that just is the story and since it is someone's life, it is what it is. I don't know enough about the family to say if it is an accurate representation or not. I'm glad I got to see it, but would not ever watch it again, I guess is where I come down.
  21. This isn't really something I'm waiting on with bated breath, but I like the effects work on him.
  22. I'm glad this is getting a sequel. I thought Part 1 was just okay, but the sequel has the ability to lift that one up, and it just inherently has more cool stuff in it.
  23. For me, the problem (other than a lot of slow-mo and a bajillion shots of those helicopter things) was that this is Paul’s journey, and Paul is the most boring Special Boy ever. It just could have been a lot better. Or maybe it couldn’t have, and this is just the story, such as it is.
  24. To be fair, I’m being harder on this than something turn-your-brain-off like Venom. Part of the problem for me was that it was close to being good and probably not far from being really good, and I can see that sort of out of the corner of my eye, so it ends up being judged harshly for coming close to being more than okay, but managing to whiff it. There’s a lot to like about it. It’s hard to focus on that when the ending was such a letdown. Again, hoping for a sequel that lifts all boats!
  25. That was okay. Felt like a precursor for the actual story to come, which was a bit meh. But it was beautiful and the actors were trying with what they had. It didn’t really quite get there, but I didn’t hate it? Idk, kind of just there. Maybe the sequel will make it feel more complete and epic instead of a lot of build up to a mostly nothingburger.
