  1. Jett from BOF is insinuating that Affleck is likely to direct The Brave and The Bold. Add in Mangold for Swamp Thing and seeing likelihood for Gunn for Superman, pretty epic group of creators at the helm.
  2. A clear WIN! to me is pop culture impact. Dunkirk did well for what it was but it left nothing of a footprint behind except Harry Styles first film role and good in the trailer with the smiling soldier. No overtly memorable characters, lines, moments, etc.
  3. Nobody saw Tenet so it isn't held against him. I don't think Dunkirk was as beloved by mainstream US as it was by critics and fill buffs, either. Nolan had 4 epic blockbuster wins with all 3 TDK films and Inception that created an incredible amount of good will. But he has not had a clear mainstream WIN! since The Dark Knight Rises 10 years ago.
  4. "Someone said" > "People are saying" > "Many people are saying" > "Everyone is saying"
  5. Mangold would be an epic get for Swamp Thing. That must be a bigger project than many initially assume.
  6. I mean, it really wasn't that dark? Batman Begins is a exceptionally well-made popcorn film. The Dark Knight has dark moments but ends with an exceptionally hopeful message. The Dark Knight Rises is same thing on an even larger scale. One of the things Snyder got right was making DCEU Batman more fantastical than Nolan films to help differentiate. The Batmobile and Batwing were much closer to Burton/Schumacher.
  7. DCU Batman should be much more commercial and fantastical than what Reeves is doing. It'll have to stick out. Channing Tatum would be an interesting choice it. Josh Hartnett is probably more pick all things commercial and critical considered.
  8. Yes should have gone with the iconic July 18th. I don't like July 11. Everyone just spent their money on July 4th stuff. WB remain pathetic with the release date game. Elordi will be historically famous after this. Need to get Brendan Fraser for Jor-el. Cillian Murphy as Lex.
  9. TV Spots with both football games today. They are really making a run at it. The issue is, the movie clearly has no action. The fast-paced shots for the trailers are the random images of particles exploding. It is really bizarre. Other than the cast, there is nothing overtly mainstream about this film. I would not be surprised at a $35m/$115m type of domestic run at all.
  10. Movie has some positives but is the absolute definition of try hard. None of WOLF OF WALL STREETS subtly.
  11. There is one big moment in the book that I wonder if they're going to keep in the film. I keep reading of changes to the story and have to think that is what it is.
  12. not nearly enough buildup. It is supposed to this "OMG. BATMANS TOO LATE. ITS ALREADY HAPPENED" but instead it feels like "ugh there's more?!?"
  13. Marketing push is pretty remarkable here, much larger than I expected. The shot of the mega wave hitting the beach looks expensive
  14. There is no tension in the 3rd act because other than a totally random line, there is zero mention that Riddler is building to some bigger act of terror. And 100%, Selena's storyline is absolutely forced in. 1. Riddler murders/scheme don't feel important because we are basically told to hate the people he is killing. Of course murder is terrible, but why is it so important to catch/stop the Riddler? This felt so underdeveloped. The "Riddler is the Zodiac" stuff does not really gel because we never see or feel society impact from him other a few glimpses of people outside of the funeral. 2. The "twist" that will "shake Gotham to its core" and "disrupt the entire city to its core" comes in seriously half baked. I get it overall - the city leaders lied to everyone about the Maroni crime bust success when they really just took it over for their own personal enrichment and used a noble Thomas Wayne endeavor to cover it up - but we feel virtually none of the side effects. We feel zero societal breakdown. The detective stuff and maze of personal dynamics is interesting, but frankly, the film would have benefitted from slightly less detective work and "Your dad was bad/no he was good/he was actually mixed/falcone is the real bad guy" and more of "society is breaking down with each reveal" type of stuff. 3.. The "flood" was almost entirely shown in the trailers and isn't shown with nearly the impact that it would have had in real life. The entire ordeal feels rushed. Riddler only mentioned his "day of judgement" once before revealing the big thing to Bruce. They absolutely should have made that a larger part of his plan throughout the film to add a greater sense of urgency to stopping him. Story really, really would benefited from being broken up into two separate, 130-140 minute films. Better establish the Maroni as Pablo Escobar type of character and make it a truly massive deal that he is apprehended. Better explain the Gotham renewal backstory. Give Catwoman and Batman more time to flesh out their paths. Flesh out Bella Real. Hype up the Riddler's "day of judgement" stuff. Would take a very solid, good movie and turn it into 2 likely classic films.
  15. Shocked at how absolutely dreadful and cringeworthy this mostly was. Even Fraser- whose immensely likable screen persona is perfect this type of role - is given some straight up absurd moments here. Filming him like he is the TRex in jurassic park also doesn't does help and bordered on unintentionally hilarity. This is not a good movie unfortunately but Fraser's performance is great and cinema would really benefit from his return to major roles.
  16. Similar to THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, this is the rare near 3 hour movie that feels underdeveloped. The story really could have merited THE BATMAN PART I and THE BATMAN PART II to flesh out some important aspects and get some prolonged action sequences.
