    That's true. But I can't imagine 8-10 countries having a permanent seat and a veto right. Would just make the whole thing even more inefficient. Since this is a box office thread : just imagine the grosses blockbusters could have when all countries have achieved their full economic potential.

    If this materialises, it's going to become increasingly complicated for France, the UK and Russia to justify their permanent member seats at the UN security council.

    No plot (unlike last year's movie) and not a crossover with another franchise (unlike DC vs Lupin).

    I must admit I'd like to see people's reactions if it happens.

    4.06 billion yen was last year's regular movie's gross. DC vs Lupin grossed around 4.2 billion yen and that was before the VTA increase in april 2014. Honestly, I'm not convinced it will top 4 billion yen this year.

    Indeed. In 10 years I think only 'Avatar' and maybe 'Titanic' will still be in the top 10 in the WW list.

    Well Avatar did $760 million in the domestic market with a population almost 4 times inferior to China's so even taking into account ticket prices and the Chinese not being as big movie consumers as the Americans and the Canadians, $1b isn't that hard to imagine.

    And even including previews, Canada being included in the domestic OD (around 10% of the population) means China probably had the biggest OD on a country-to-country basis. Btw what's the average ticket price in China ?

    I think DBZ will open higher in gross especially since it has 4DX screenings increasing its average ticket price but I think Conan will end up with the higher total at the end of their runs. In admissions, I think Conan will be higher both for the opening weekend and the total.

    Well in the meantime I'm looking forward to the 'Dragon Ball Z' vs 'Detective Conan' battle next weekend. Hard to say which movie will come out on top for the first weekend and overall.

    If you think it's bad now, Goldman Sachs said they expect an exchange rate of about 1€ = $0.80 in 2017.That means euro zone grosses in $ could be almost divided by 2 compared to when the Euro peaked.

    What kind of question is that ? Spirited Away, the highest grossing movie ever in Japan, grossed about a third of that sum.

    I have faith...the french will not fall for this. Oh, who am I kidding, the hordes of sheep will run in the theaters, as usual. Most of them probably haven't seen a good movie in their life and couldn't tell a Hitchcock from a Michael Bay.

    You forgot the 'Detective Conan' franchise in your list. It will probably gross around the same as Doraemon and Dragon Ball Z if not slightly more.
