  1. We can't replace those Russos...they have the MCU's lone "perfect" movie 😂😂. The Winter Soldier...Utter perfection! The 2014 oscar snub is one of tbe biggest miscarriages of justice in history!
  2. Check it. Ant-Man 60-something, Strange 85, Chris Evans rode on the back of Robert Downey Jr, Spider-Man, and 99% of the Avengers... So it's just Thor and Guardians
  3. I was about to post something about that. Thor fan, I want CBMs to continue to dominate. But man, hardly anything makes money in the theaters these days, besides the CBMs. I like old school horror (not the current cheap, bloodless, PG13 mass produced, mainstream Blumhouse thing). Sci fi, action, thrillers. I want them to do well too. The Friday The 13th sequel gets canned because Rings bombed. Things like that are going on, because nobody can make any money outside of the CBM genre. You've gotta be an idiot to sign on to some of these weird projects like Matt Damon has been taking. In this current box office climate, you're asking for a bomb
  4. I'm thinking it's the sole reason a Thor movie is finally getting embrassed in China. Selling a Thor movie in China was like selling a freezer in Alaska. Universal still has distribution rights, so while I can't see another solo film? I can certainly see Hill's arc being strung out over several B solo properties like Ant Man and Strange.
  5. THIS is what I was waiting for! CHINA! With these numbers, it's doing at least 100M!! Say hello to 800M+ WW!! Think it was Hulk?! That finally put a Thor movie "over" in the China/SK region?!
  6. 104M is the initial estimate. I was telling you guys that those 120+ predictions were too high. The movie had to overcome Thor's perception, among the MCU fan base, as the weakest (and non-Russo) franchise. Also, JL looming so close, is also going to lower the ceiling on the OW. Two blockbusters of the same genre so close to each other can have a gravitational effect. Considering these circumstances, anything over 100M has to be considered a victory. I said 100-110, and that high 90's wouldn't surprise me.
  7. Lead actress made the movie better than I thought it would be. What I didn't get was, They give it away, during one of the attempts, who the killer was :). They head in another direction, throwing you off a little, but in the end, it was who you figured out it was :).
  8. 2017 Villain list through August 1. (Tie) Charlize Theron's Cipher(Fast 8)/Javier Bardem's Captain Salazar (Pirates 5) 2. Woody Harrelson's Colonel (War For The Planet Of The Apes) 3. 9. Saw it a second time, and I like it. Bombed in the theaters, but will live on as a cult classic. The, uh, "trible" part was hilarious :D.
  10. LOL...I went to see Valerian for the second time, and there was this older couple trying to decide what movie to see. The old man goes, how about Atomic Blonde :D! The woman goes, what? Atomic Blonde, Atomic Blonde! Think he might have saw that girl on girl in the trailers :D?
  11. I wonder what these commercial and movie producers are thinking sometimes during the editing process...in one of the Baywatch trailers, Zac Efron is riding on the back of a water vehicle driven by The Rock. Efron calls him a hairless gorilla...how this racist line got by the editing without ringing a bell is puzzling. The term should have obviously not been approved.
  12. Angry Birds 40M Neighbors 2 38M Iron Man/Robert Downey Jr/Sony/Spider-Man/Black Panther/Scarlet Witch/War Machine/Hawkeye/Ant-Man/Vision/Black Widow/Captain America:Civil War 34M
  13. Iron Man/Robert Downey Jr/Spider-Man/Black Panther/Black Widow/Hawkeye/Vision/Scarlet Witch/War Machine/Ant-Man/Captain America:Civil War might run into trouble with Neighbors 2.
  14. Wow, Iron Man/Robert Downey Jr/Spider-Man/Black Panther/Black Widow/Hawkeye/Vision/Scarlet Witch/War Machine/Ant-Man/Captain America:Civil War might do Iron Man 3 numbers
  15. You have to ask Marvel Studios that...gotta ask them that...you cant have a Thor movie without giants, dragons, trolls, and creatures. That means top of the line CGI artist and animators such as the ones every other studio (like Legendary) seem to find . If you're gonna shrink the Frost Giants to little blue men, and have Thor only battle men in makeup and costumes...you're not giving the character the best chance to succeed . The old fashioned mentality of Marvel Studios may hold Thor 3 down. Look at Guardians. Any other studio would have populated that universe with a diverse collection of CGI alien freaks. Marvel keeps things down to only humanoid alien types, that they can dress an actor up in a costume for. Like, Rocket and Groot are the only different looking life forms in the entire universe . They have to bring their technology and tv level thinking UP.
  16. Uh..what ? Thor 2 came out in NOVEMBER...where it lacked the summer crowds, and had heated competition from Best Man Holiday and most importantly the highest grossing domestic of the YEAR (beating even IM3), Catching Fire. November has some big numbers, but they're critical acclaim seeking movies. Thor 2 is a summer flick, so placing it here with more serious offerings, when the crowd you're aiming for is gone by Labor Day, wasn't a great US move by Marvel Studios. Compare that to Cap 2 "facing" Bears, Gods Not Dead, Son of God, and Heaven is for Real......in a pre-summer spot. Not to mention a third of the Avengers as co-stars ! Yet it STILL got outgrossed by Thor 2 in 72 PERCENT of the markets. Cap 2 only grossing more because China and the US were big. It HAD to do that because it got smoked by Thor 2 almost everywhere ELSE ! So this Thor fan is holding his head high!
  17. Look closely...Cap 2 outgrossed Thor 2 overseas because of ONE market, China (115M-55M=60; without that, it makes less than Thor 2 OS), which happens to be the SECOND LARGEST. The US is THE largest. It got outgrossed by Thor 2 just about everywhere else. Its not an impressive result by any means. We're not talking about IM3 here.
  18. Well Cap 2 OUTTA have a bigger increase, considering it almost bombed in 2011 !! LMFAO!! Thor 2 didn't NEED a huge OS increase!
  19. Cap 3 made less than Thor 2 in 40 of the 54 overseas markets. Guardians will do slightly better, but will also gross less than Thor 2 the majority of the overseas markets. These numbers would seem to indicate that if Thor 3 does around 800M, Cap and Guardians will do a little more, 800-900 range. Cap and Guardians are just not as embraced as Thor on a territory by territory count. They do big numbers in TWO or THREE markets, including the US and China, to edge Thor in the end. That wont cut it if you're aiming for a billion. You have to rout Thor like Iron Man Three did. I'm curious though...what if Marvel Studios could light a US-China fire for Thor?
  20. Thats about right...hey, look! A lot of overseas markets see Cap, an American patriotic hero in stars and stripes, and they're staying away from the theater ! Unanimous critic support, fanboy frenzies, how much more goodwill can you get from that?! But you see the...empty theaters in Russia, Italy, and France ...you're ramming an american hero down peoples throats !
