  1. No, there are showtimes up for Bumblebee at the theaters near me from previews to the 27th.
  2. Pretty low on the movie ads on the Thanksgiving parade. Christmas-wise, only Poppins and Spiderverse got ads. Last year had TLJ, Jumanji, Pitch Perfect, and Greatest Showman. Pretty sure Ferdinand was another one too. Weird.
  3. But at least they had to deal with a Star Wars movie sucking up all the showtimes, so theaters didn’t want to (or couldn’t) give those movies previews. What’s Poppins’ excuse?
  4. Mary Poppins tickets have showtimes but not tickets available. What's weird is that there aren't any Tuesday previews...but there's also a "fan event" on Tuesday at 7 in Dolby at a couple of AMCs...why not just do Tuesday previews?
  5. While lurking around AwardsWatch, I found embargo dates. Social media embargo: November 29 Reviews: December 12
  6. Ehh, I can see Ali finding his way in. From what I've seen, even people critical of the movie acknowledge him as a standout. And again, ultra-barren category. As for Mortensen...well, I'm not gonna say he's dunzo, but Hawke, Malek, and Gosling can breathe a little easy.
  7. Of course on the bright side, it only makes the path for a Poppins BP nom clearer
  8. Green Book definitely seems like a snub, apart from acting noms. The film's getting weaker and weaker reviews, it's box office is looking weak, and Don Shirley's family is already calling out the movie and its inaccuracies and racism. EDIT: Guess Han already wrote what I said. I guess something I'll add is that Black Panther and BlacKkKlansman are also movies that tackle race and are more commercially and critically successful. Also shows the new voters are really changing things around. That's a good thing.
  9. A critic's job is to improve and add to the conversation of cinema, call out and criticize art and the film industry for a multitude of reasons, as well as give a spotlight to the underappreciated artists and films out there. It not only benefits consumers in helping them earn a greater appreciation of the arts, but it also improves the conditions for those marginalized to either see themselves on the screen (why do you think "representation matters" has been an iconic quote lately?), or give more work for said groups. May not seem beneficial to you, but it certainly does to many others.
