    It was surprising to see Shin-Godzilla out gross Jungle Book on its opening day. Shin-Godzilla pulled in about $2.1m.

    I love how Forbes thinks Shin-Godzilla is going to make only $39m total. It looks like it's going to do well over that. @Corpse looking like it has a shot at possibly being at 35m by this weekend's end if my math is right, no?

    I was wondering about Obon. Is it this entire weekend? Can films actually increase from last weekend?

    Good. At first I was like...well that's not good for Godzilla. However it seems like normal drops coming off a discount day.

    I'm assuming Japan has a discount on the 1st of each month? This Monday compared to last Monday(Aug 1st) a number of films arent even close.

    Am I seeing this right? Looks like Shin Godzilla just ran away from everything else at the Saturday box office. Shin really explodes as it gets closer to night time. Looks like Kamen Rider will have the best opening out of the new releases.

    Sweeeeet! It's crazy thinking Shin-Godzilla already surpassed Tohos last Godzilla film, Godzilla Final Wars(12m), and Tohos 2001 Godzilla film, GMK(20m), in 2 weeks!

    Yeah, with there being more Godzilla coming from Hollywood soon, plus a $40m+ Toho Godzilla(not including other countries), they're making some serious $ with the character.

    Wasn't it like 2-3m on Friday for a 8-9m fri-sun? Orrrr is the Saturday total including friday? I'm hoping not and the overall gross for it is 8-9 and when you guys say 3day total your not meaning sat-monday. Help!!!!! Overall it seems reviews are quite good(see yahoo Japan movies)

    Which is kind of crazy because it's drastically different then what were use to in a G film. Depending on box office numbers, looks like Toho has successfully rebooted their version of Godzilla. Two concurrent Godzilla franchises...crazy.
