Just announced at comic con, FUNimation will distribute the 29th TOHO produced Godzilla film. The 31st in the long running franchise.
FUNimation confirmed a late 2016 theatrical release.
TOHO has sold the film to at least 100 countries and or territories. The largest ever by TOHO.
Godzilla: Resurgence will be released in Japan next Friday in Imax formats!
Trailer:
Toho announced the other day that China is one of the 100 countries/territories to get Shin-Gojira(Godzilla: Resurgence).
I wonder when it'll get released there. If anyone sees anything about the release date for it, let us know!
This topic should at least be moved to the international section as it's no longer "on the lot"!
Glad to hear it's getting a optimal release with 348 theaters.
They must have high hopes for Godzilla: Resurgence to have that many theaters!
Hoping it does really well so that Toho will decide to make another film for 2018 before Legendarys Godzilla 2 in 2019.
Yes, in Final Wars. But they still recognize two Hollywood adaptions of the character.
Anyway, the image below shows ape bones that would be much larger than a 100ft ape:
DVD and Blu Rays are still being produced by Toho. Toho still recognizes it. Doesnt matter what the fans think. I hate that film with a passion, but if that version was 400ft tall, well he would be the biggest Godzilla.
Nah. Even though 90% of people don't like Emmerich's Godzilla, it's still an official entry to the franchise. Same with King Kong. 1962s version is the biggest. RKO let Toho use the character.
Would make more sense honestly. Though, vogt Roberts did say FEET. We did see set photos of ape bones... And they look MUCH larger than what a 100ft ape would be.
I wonder if they'll just get Vogt-Roberts to direct Godzilla 2.
This movie takes place in the 70's... 30-40 years before the events of GODZILLA(2014). This Kong could still be growing before the eventual battle in 2020.
Also, he could have been exaggerating when he said 100ft... He could still be bigger. But yes, a 100ft Kong is still not big enough to fight a 355ft Godzilla. Unless it's a army of 100ft Kongs or somwrhing.
What's the hype for Shin-Gojira like? It seems like merchandise for the film is selling very well, and the way they're doing advance tickets leads me to think it'll do very well opening weekend.

This is a new continuity, not related to any previous entry.
Godzilla looks totally f'ed up(in a good way to me). Still hoping for a limited release here in the states.
