  1. Creed also has the better release date. Opening in the Holiday season has proved to be a strong option for adult dramas, unlike late July.
  2. IMO Anger Management is one of his underrated gems. Every time I see that movie I'm crying of laughter, mostly because Jack Nicholson is just hysterical.
  3. I'm seeing Ant-Man today. Wasn't excited for it at first, but some of your reviews made me at least curious. Oh, and shit numbers. Bring on M:I 5 already.
  4. Civil War won't flop. It won't miss 300m DOM and could go a lot higher than that and it's 99,9% locked to make over a billion WW.
  5. I agree, but FJG 2 seems to be the most likely candidate to miss the 6mil mark.. It's definitely not guaranteed for the other two though.
  6. M:I 5 won't bomb. Overseas will make sure of that. I hope it breaks out domestically though. Would certainly make the box office exciting again.
  7. My money is on FJG 2 missing it. I don't see how the insane success of the first one can be duplicated.
  8. Man, those are some shitty numbers. Hopefully that means that M:I 5 (and maybe Vacation, too) breaks out next weekend.
  9. On the last part. AFAIK previews came about after the Aurora shooting because people were obviously hesitant to go to midnight showings, so they just started showings earlier. I do think that the first Hobbit movie still had "true" midnight showings, so earlier previews really started to become a thing in 2013.
  10. IMO the only movies to have a shot at beating Minions now are Star Wars, Spectre and FJG 2.
  11. If it happens, it'll only be the second time since Titanic's release that its total would be passed (third time if you don't count the re-release). And from an admissions standpoint, its run will likely never be matched.
  12. Eh. It wasn't my cup of tea. I didn't think it was terrible though.
  13. Congrats to JW now being the biggest movie of all time not directed by James Cameron.
  14. Universal seems to not really care about such milestones, so unless JW gets within $2-3m of Titanic by itself, I don't see them pushing it above Titanic.
  15. It certainly helps overall admissions that this year doesn't have a major soccer event (no World or Euro Cup), unlike 2014.
  16. LOL at the thread title. Funny that we've had so many neologisms for certain movies' box office this summer. I wonder what's gonna come next.
