  1. 17M previews, which is absolutely huge in december. Before the first Hobbit made 13M, the highest was Avatar's 3,5M I think. 48M Friday (with previews). Hobbit made a little over 37. That means less than 3x it's previews. I gave SW 3x exactly because it's a franchise and has a strong fanbase that will make it front loaded. 36M Saturday (Hobbit made 27,7M). I also gave SW a slightly smaller drop. 26M Sunday (Hobbit made 19,7M) And that is to meet my 110M prediction, though I will probably have a slightly stronger Sunday. I could see 28-29M and a 112-115M OW.
  2. Well, a few people have Peter Pan on their list. But yeah, their 2015 line up is just bad. PP and The Cnjuring 2 will probably be their highest grossing movies.
  3. They said the same about The Hobbit and that's the best comparison for it. Even with a very good movie 110M in december is nothing to laugh at. And I don't want to get into a LOTR vs SW debate cuz we all know how those usually end up.
  4. Yeah, forgot about that when I made the list. But I don't know if I can update it.
  5. I'm starting to think my 260M prediction for this is low. Can't wait for this. Definitely one of my top 3 most anticipated 2015 movies.
  6. 1. Avengers 2 - 205M 2. MJ 2 - 175M 3. FF7 - 110-115M 4. Star Wars VII - 110M 5. Bond 24 - 90M 6. Jurassic World - 88M 7. 50 Shades - 85M 8. Minions - 75M 9. Ant Man - 72M 10. Ted 2 - 65-70M
  7. Nope. I already did that with Baumer and I really don't like debating over a thing when I know I have no chance at changing the other person's view. In the end, we are all stubborn and we think our reasons are the best. Whether they are or not it remains to be seen.
  8. I already said I might be wrong. And I stick to my prediction. And yeah, it's easier to see why GoTG would appeal more to younger/family audiences. A talking raccoon is just one of the reasons. And there is no point in attacking my prediction. I haven't said a thing about your 645M prediction for SW7 exactly because I don't want to get in a useless fight.
  9. You do realise 190 is higher than the first Cap and Thor movie, right? Just because it's Marvel it doesn't mean it'll be a 200M+ movie. And "Guardians of the Galaxy' sounds much easier to market and like than 'Ant Man'. Also, it seems much more family friendly and that is the main reason GoTG is so big. But we have a lot of time till 2015 so I'll leave it at that
  10. Well, there where a lot of pizza pics (yummy) and then Tele showed up but the pizza kept coming and then the thread was locked so the fun moved to The Classic Conversation Thread that, after a chaotic few pages was locked too. After that this thread became for a short while the party till the mods realised that they either unlock the CC thread or lock this one too
  11. Yap. Of course I might be wrong. I don't know anything about this but the title just sounds incredibly stupid. I see it at around 180-190. And I hear there's director change going on. Anyway, I don't see it being a more popular choice than 50 Shades and even though Marvel is on fire right know, they will stumble at some point. This is the point I see.
  12. 1. Avengers 2 - 580M 2. Mocking Jay 2 - 490M 3. Star Wars VII - 450M 4. Bond 24 - 290M 5. FF7 - 270M 6. Minions - 260M 7. Jurassic World - 240M 8. Mission Impossible 5 - 230M 9. Inside Out - 225M 10. 50 Shades - 200M
  13. I know this is off topic but The CC thread was closed. I just can't... Also, bad drop for Chef
  14. Oh, be serious. Just because your fav franchises won't ever touch those numbers it doesn't mean they are a 'threat to humanity'. LOL. If people would not love these movies they would not make that kind of $$$. And win against Bay? What? It's all about money. For some reason, people seem to believe that the US market is the driving force for all movies. That's not the case anymore which is very good, considering that people all over the world have different taste in movies.
  15. I'm glad that happens more and more frequantly. Step Up is not my cup of tee (I haven't seen any of the movies) but the US audience has a pretty weird taste in movies sometimes, especially when we're talking sequels. Without OS, franchises like TF, POTC or Pacific Rim wouldn't get another sequel and movies like Battle Ship, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island or the Total Recall remake probably wouldn't be made.
  16. The OS audience. The last one made over 100M OS, this one already made almost 40M there.
  17. Shouldn't that be added to like pretty much every thread on this forum?
  18. I remember watching the movie for the first time and thinking the battle at the end was so cool and the effects were great. It shows just how much the visual side of the movie industry has evolved. Now I think the Covenant's VFX is awful. But the story is still likable. Who wouldn't want superpowers (the same reason why I love 'Chronicle' so much).
  19. Nah. GoTG has some sweet moments but overall it's not great. I haven't seen TMNT yet but it's produced by Bay and has Fox in it. For those two alone the movie should be better than GoTG.
  20. Wonder who are you talking about Anyway, so much win in a single post!
