I only meant OS with Fantastic Beasts. DOM not even the main Potter franchise could do those numbers. You'd think that way, but a good example is Pottermore, the site JK created for the fans. That instantly became and currently is is mega success, being visited only in the first 6 months by almost 40 million unique visitors. Since the publication in 1997 of the first book till 2011 we had continuous content, then it stopped. Dont underestimate the nostalgia.

I agree with you, but you have to look at it a different way: nostalgia. Yep, I said it. We got used to receiving a movie / year and now we haven't had anything in 5 damn years. Even if it fails to meet expectations, this will be fully marketed as the return to that world and if WBs smart ad I think they are theyll likely make a connection with Dumbledore. It will be hyped to the stratosphere. I think it will have even weaker legs than Potter, but the OW will be huge. And there's really no other thing to compare it to, becauseno other franchise had the consistency Potter had. And that makes me to believe that the money it made came mainly from fans, not the GA. And when you have a fandom as big and as loyal that they stayed with you for 8 movies, I think they will come back to check this out. It will basically be the first time we have new material from that world since JK finished the last book in 2007/2008.

Even if it falls 80m from the DH2 OS OW, if it opens in China at the same time it will break the record. And it will. Mark my words.

Romania. And it is weird because this is the type of movie that usually does well here. The original JP is in Top 10 most attended movies ever. So I really dont get it. The marketing was indeed pretty bad and they didn't concentrate enough on promoting it towards teenagers, since they are the driving force for movies. That, plus the summer. Summer is ALWAYS the worst time to open a movie here. Like, the whole summer will make less money than the month of December 2014. No one wants to go to the movies when it's sunny outside and we had some very hot days lately. Bodes well for SW though, if they dont screw up the marketing.

Wow, JW disappointed here. It got the only the 8th highest OW of the year It made less than 1/3 of FF7, less than 1/2 of 50 Shades, and it also opened lower than Jupiter Ascending, Taken 3, Mad Max, Age of Ultron and Seventh Son. Its OW is also way lower than Godzilla last year, both in USD and admissions. And I thought this would be one of the frontrunners for the year...

It would need a 3+ multi from this opening considering it opened almost everywhere and most of the coutries where it opened to had a 5 day OW. Unless it has super-stellar WOM it won't happen.
