  1. I saw all of them except the 1st in cinemas, and the new one could not look more boring I'm glad I have grown up.
  2. I agree that a lower opening will generally lead to stronger legs. I'm not convinced that 5 years makes enough difference to the fans though.
  3. Wouldn't it be the opposite way round? If the large number of adults seeing this movie are the "core fanbase" then you're confirming it will be frontloaded. "core fans" don't improve legs, regardless of their age.
  4. What? Harry Potter is a children's book series, it has matured a little sure but fundamentally it appeals to all ages including families.
  5. Screen size doesn't affect box office unless something is a sellout. I didn't realise Arrival opened on Thursday, that explains a lot thanks.
  6. I honestly didn't realise anyone here took those gender, age, cinemascore etc stats seriously. Clearly i was mistaken.
  7. Obviously the best approach to looking at box office stats is with facts, but just because someone throws a number out there doesn't make it true. I'll continue to prefer my opinion over random arbitrary numbers. Just look at the polls for the US election which had it at like 55-40, one poll doesn't represent the truth.
  8. oh lol. Sorry. anyway those numbers are never especially accurate so I haven't changed my mind. a poll from a select few cinemas is never going to be accurate.
  9. But they are not competition with each other. kids film vs mature adult drama. that's a bad hold, sorry.
  10. I dont know what numbers you have but it seems to me that Fantastic Beasts appeals to families, as does Moana.
  11. Completely delusional. Those films opened on Wednesday and their 5-day openings were 140M and 158M respectively. Brad Bevet has never been particularly good but this is a real oversight... thinking this movie is gonna leg it to 280M from 75M opening is nuts. 175M much more likely than 275M.
  12. Aye. Of all the $150M+ budget movies this year, I loved Warcraft, but every single other one has been somewhere between terrible and forgettable.
  13. Yup, as expected. Dunno why people have been expecting anything more, especially those who were predicting stuff like 100M. Been saying for ages this would do 70M if lucky and finish below 200.
  14. What do you mean? Disney is the studio. They own Marvel Studios. They own Pixar, they own Lucasfilm. So they get all the money. How they fund their projects/teams/companies is up to them and we'll never know (well maybe the information is in shareholder releases, idk)
  15. decent movie. I don't think it's philosophically/morally complex but it had my brain working hard, so kept me engaged. very watchable but I'll probably have forgotten it by the end of the week.
  16. 1) no words to describe how dumb this movie looks 2) terrible trailer, the trailer doesn't even have an ending? 3) I dont usually care about whitewashing but why are they dressing Scarlett up to make her look Japanese? 4) I like Enjoy the Silence
