  1. I saw a trailer for this the other day, had never heard of it before. Looks neat, hopefully it's better than Villeneuve's previous movies.
  2. I'm not sure there is one - its "just" apes v humans. At least, the apes are the lead characters this time.
  3. I disagree that the controversy sunk the film - was anyone expecting it to do well in the first place? Apart from the studio who bought it for like $20M or whatever.
  4. After next weekend, Bridget Jones' Baby is going to have grossed more than Finding Dory. Judging by my local cinemas, Inferno and GOTT are both doing really well. Nice to see the box office really liven up after the drought we've had since early August. It's only going to continue, with Trolls and Doctor Strange out next week. Ouch. Opening against Trolls = bad idea.
  5. dead weekend... next weekend I'm seeing Trolls, Dr Strange, and Jack Reacher(!) though so looking forward to that..
  6. the controversy has existed for several weeks/months now - it would have an effect on the opening and therefore overall run, but it wouldnt be responsible for a drop like that. A controversy that supposedly is negatively effecting a movie doesn't frontload it.
  7. I was watching Inferno earlier and I thought to myself, Tom Hanks should be cast as a psychopath or maniacal villain. Would be awesome.
  8. Damn this was rubbish. Angels and demons was bad but comedy gold to laugh at... This is just bad.
  9. I thought this was gonna be the most annoying, stupid, dumb kids movie, but I actually want to see it now:
  10. The leaps of faith look rad. Good to see them doing physical stunts. I can't say I have the balls to jump off a 150ft tower.
  11. its released this week here and I haven't seen any interest in it at all. I don't think it is gonna do well OS.
  12. Beauty and the Beast opening to 160M. Is that a joke? Or are you being serious?
  13. Bridget Jones gonna make more money than Civil War
  14. If the main strength of a movie is the cinematography, chances are it wasn't a great movie.
  15. ooh, this looks interesting. I'll try and write a list tomorrow.
  16. westerns generally do not perform very well, I would hardly call Mag7 a "well known property" given that most people going to see it weren't even born when the original was released. Ethan Hawke is not, and never has been, a box office draw, and Chris Pratt's power is completely untested. It did fine, slightly better than I expected.
