  1. #32 44.87% Director: Andrew Adamson & Vicky Jenson Written by: Ted Elliott, Terry Rossio, Joe Stillman, Roger S.H. Schulman It's original, it's musical, and it's very, very green. Shrek hurls its way into 32nd place. RT Consensus: "While simultaneously embracing and subverting fairy tales, the irreverent Shrek also manages to tweak Disney's nose, provide a moral message to children, and offer viewers a funny, fast-paced ride."
  2. #33 43.86% Director: Neill Blomkamp Written by: Neill Blomkamp, Terri Tatchell You can argue about whether he's a one hit wonder all you like, but Neill Blomkamp flies his alien apartheid sci-fi into our list at #33. RT Consensus: "Technically brilliant and emotionally wrenching, District 9 has action, imagination, and all the elements of a thoroughly entertaining science-fiction classic."
  3. I didn't even know there was a sequel to Alice in Wonderland (the book). Oz: The Great and Powerful is very clearly related to Wizard of Oz. There's only one Oz, but Alice could be anyone. Anyway in trailers/posters/marketing it will be obvious that this is Alice in Wonderland, so I don't even know why you are arguing.
  4. #34 43.03% Director: David Fincher Written by: Gillian Flynn It might have been snubbed at 2014's Oscars, but not here. Fincher's second film on the list, the fucked up Gone Girl, is definitively the 34th most Amazing film since 2000. RT Consensus: "Dark, intelligent, and stylish to a fault, Gone Girl plays to director David Fincher's sick strengths while bringing the best out of stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike."
  5. #35 42.51% Director: Richard Kelly Written by: Richard Kelly Our penultimate Gyllenhaal film is the strange Donnie Darko. It creeps into the list at rank #35. RT Consensus: "Richard Kelly's debut feature is a daring, original vision, packed with jarring ideas and intelligence and featuring a remarkable performance from Jake Gyllenhaal as the troubled title character."
  6. I can't either, with the Marvel brand having gone from strength to strength.
  7. Wait is Avengers WW OW gonna count, given that it already opened before the games begin?
  8. You will have to find out. Do you think it has made it?
  9. It's not that unusual. Disney has actually made plenty of decent direct-to-video films, imo Lion King 2 is better than Lion King 1 for instance. Remember that Toy Story 2 was intended as a direct-to-video movie, and that's widely regarded as one of the best sequels ever.
  10. #36 42.43% Director: Ang Lee Written by: Tsai Kuo-Jung, James Schamus, Hui-Ling Wang Another Ang Lee film to make it on to the list, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon kicks and punches its way through to position #36. RT Consensus: "The movie that catapulted Ang Lee into the ranks of upper echelon Hollywood filmmakers, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon features a deft mix of amazing martial arts battles, beautiful scenery, and tasteful drama."
  11. I've got a question, baumer you said that it's our responsibility to figure out the timezone conversions for deadlines. But you haven't said what time zone you yourself are in / are referring to with the deadline. (America is split into two different timezones right?) Also re: preseason questions - 9) How is "action" film being defined? Lots of films have action but may not be action films 13) Does minions count as a sequel? Since it's a 'spinoff' not a direct sequel.
  12. #37 42.40% Director: Quentin Tarantino Written by: Quentin Tarantino More Tarantino? Yes. More Tarantino. Though this is the last one. Inglourious Basterds slices its way up the ranks to be the 37th best film since 2000. RT Consensus: "A classic Tarantino genre-bending thrill ride, Inglourious Basterds is violent, unrestrained, and thoroughly entertaining."
  13. The next one should be less disappointing to some members
  14. I'm not going to spoil anything, but you don't have to be disappointed. Re-read my post, then think about your own personal list, Tele. That's all I'm going to say.
  15. When I'm older I'm going to win the lottery and get myself an IMAX, so I don't have to bear the annoying people who talk and munch popcorn and slurp drinks and look at their phones. I guess it depends on how easy it is for you to get to the cinema. For me, it takes 10 minutes to get there, 10 minutes to get home. Add in 10 minutes of ads and it's just half an hour added on to the film. Not really a problem, personally. If I am able to spare 130 minutes to watch a film, I'm usually able to spare 160.
  16. Yeah out of all the predictions, that is the most ridiculous. It's got a way higher chance of doing 170M on OW than it has doing only 170M dom.
  17. I don't even see the point. If I have the ability to watch a film in the cinema as opposed to at home, then I'll watch it in the cinema. And by definition, a new film will be available in the cinema. Home viewing is only for when I can't see a film in the cinema (which effectively is 99% of the time, but still.) Maybe that's just me.
  18. #100-51 were standard official posters, #50-1 are fan posters
  19. #38 42.40% Director: Brad Bird Written by: Brad Bird The much-loved Brad Bird brings his most recent animation to the list. Ratatouille crawls up to rank #38. RT Consensus: "Pixar succeeds again with Ratatouille, a stunningly animated film with fast pacing, memorable characters, and overall good humor."
  20. imo, these are fully deserving of being in top 100 of the last 15 years: Monsters, Inc. The Pianist The Lego Movie Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Moon Whiplash Locke A.I. The Hurt Locker Shaun of the Dead Life of Pi TDKR Inside Llewyn Davis Tropic Thunder
  21. Maybe not... But it might have the first two letters of that film....
  22. #39 42.10% Director: Darren Aronofsky Written by: Andres Heinz, Mark Heyman, John McLaughlin The third - and final - Aronofsky film to make it to the top 100, Black Swan glides in at #39. RT Consensus: "Bracingly intense, passionate, and wildly melodramatic, Black Swan glides on Darren Aronofsky's bold direction -- and a bravura performance from Natalie Portman."
