  1. It's not that they've forgotten that it exists, it's the idea that they forgot just how good it was.
  2. I think Star Wars could defo get a BP nomination just as Gravity did last year, and other big blockbusters that dominate headlines (and it'll help that SW is released so late in the year), but most of its nominations will be in sound/visuals. IMO, every Star Wars film should win Best Sound Editing every single year, regardless of whether a Star Wars film is released in that year or not.

  4. Oh yeah, completely forgot about that. There's no way JW opens above 129M.
  5. Thank you hun. That makes a lot more sense given the term 'mixing' Yeah, it could happen. If it opens to 45M this weekend then it'll need a 4.4x multi. Not convinced about it yet but it's possible.
  6. Oh okay, so mixing is the actual sounds, not how they are worked with the rest of the film. Thanks.
  7. Tintin is just creepy imo, that animation style burns my soul. Sorry if this sounds stupid, but would someone mind explaining to me the difference between sound mixing and sound editing?
  8. Am I the only person in the world who really appreciated the sound mixing in Interstellar?
  9. January: yes, American Sniper (it's a low bar to reach anyway) February: yes, 50SOG March: not in a million years April: yes. FF6 is higher than Cap 2, FF7 will do at least the same. May: yes, Avengers 2 will beat Avengers 1 OW June: maybe. JW will need very strong marketing to beat Man of Steel, but it is doable. July: no, lol August: no September: errrr. Maybe. I'm not sure Maze Runner 2 will get enough of a boost, but it's very possible. It's a bit early to call, though it did have decent legs so it has a good chance. October: No chance. Crimson Peak will not open above 55M, that's crazy tbh. November: yes. maybe? I don't know. MJ1 was really disappointing and I don't know if MJ2 will manage to reverse the drop by that much. December: yes, locked So that's 5 that I'm confident will break the record, and 3 that might do. 8/12 at best.
  10. I wouldn't call it racism per se, but there are definitely issues with the way Hollywood treats certain groups of people - even if it's not a conscious decision. Women suffer a lot from this too. I wouldn't pick anyone out and say they're racist/sexist/homophobic for doing this, but I think it's ignorant to suppose that everything is fine and dandy, because the fact is, black people aren't given the same treatment as white people in movies. Women aren't given the same treatment as men. Gay and transgender people aren't given the same treatment as straight and cis people. I believe this stems from Hollywood being dominated by straight white cis men, and a diversity in studio heads, directors and producers would result in more diverse - and, by extension, better - movies.
  11. Only reason I follow Gunn is for when he posts pictures like this Sounds fun! Yeah that is a bit.. I dont even know what the word is. I mean, I don't blame him for loving his film (and it is a great film), but he has to realise that it's not the best film ever.
  12. It's a shame this is the case, the same goes for gay or LGBT characters too. Hollywood should buck its ideas up.
  13. Wow... $70M on an ad. That's crazy. What is the clip of? It's blocked here, I can't see it.
  14. I still think Lego should have got a nomination for best production design. The way it's animated like a stop-motion film and all the bricks and everything and omg i just <3 <3 <3 <3 Even if i disagree with some of Gunn's opinions, I'm glad that he's not someone who just says what people want to hear and doesn't want to be rude etc. He seems honest, even if a little naive.
  15. Imitation Game didn't get nommed for costumes I thought it was virtually guaranteed to win.
  16. I watched both films twice, and I agree that Interstellar is beautiful. But beauty? That's cinematography, or production design, you should be looking at. On a technical level, Apes is better and that's not up for debate. Heh, I think the opposite. The film was really good but that scene elevated it to a higher level, making the film absolutely brilliant imo.
  17. Huh?! You can't seriously argue that any film had better effects than Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which is revolutionary. DotPotA literally has the best VFX of any movie ever made. GRRRRR.
  18. Blanks, it's always been like that. Since Brokeback Mountain lost BP due to homophobia, I have not cared about the Academy Awards. I don't want to generalise and say, "It's just a bunch of old white men" (mainly because people would attack me for saying that ) but at the end of the day, it is just a bunch of people's opinions, and not your own. If you want to find awards worthy of respect then I would say just listen to the critics who you genuinely have respect for. I don't know who any of the Oscar voters are, so I have no respect for them - no more respect for the Academy Awards than I have for my own opinion. I have no reason to care about their choices, so I don't.
