  1. Poster is in traditional Chinese. Definitely not China which uses simplified Chinese. Anyway Hong Kong's release means nothing for Mainland China release.
  2. Venom should have opened on 24th. Sony's decisions are really frustrating.
  3. Like I said - many films didn't get release in China this year. Not just Shang Chi - and i don't think reasons are expected to be given. For each of this film - studios can come up with their own conclusions if they need to. And i genuinely think you are overthinking and overworried.
  4. This is your point of view - and does not neccessarily represent what studios think. They were pushing hard for Snake Eyes. Space Jam was also pushed as an attempt to reconcille China and NBA's relationship. You think Dwayne Johnson won't push for Jungle Cruise in China despite the hybrid release? He is a huge draw there. All I can say it - sometimes things just don't happen and like we don't expect a reason to be spelled out for each of these films.
  5. Good luck finding the answer. There is no need for them, and it is not expected of them, to give any reason. It is up to Disney & Marvel studios to decipher the reason and see whether they want to act according to what it being implied.
  6. Why would a reason need to be provided specifically for this film? Black Widow, Jungle Cruise, Snake Eyes, Space Jam has all not been released. Do we need reasons for each of them? 😅
  7. I mean now it is set for day and date with US right, which means also against piracy (HBO max). Sometimes I really don’t know what WB is thinking…
  8. Not really, I mean Venom 2 and NWH are from different studios but also marvel, the latter is in the MCU and I am sure both will be released. And I don’t foresee any issues with future MCU films as well; BW was Disney’s mistake in changing the release date - could have been like Fast9 and released earliest in China before the rest of the world. SC and Eternals had their own specific issues - I don’t think China is specifically targeting Marvel films.
  9. Haha. But don't think either of them will be in the top 10 of China Box Office this year. Will be exciting to see the dates of Venom 2 and Spiderman: NWH. If the latter gets a similar release date as Aquaman back then - things could get really interesting. Haha.
  10. Thank you for the figures as always! How are reviews for On The Line and The Miracle?
  11. We could be 1 weekend away from Venom 2. But Sony decided to bail (and then took a u-turn 🤣). Not forgetting Clifford the Big Red Dog could have opened this weekend. Sigh.
  12. Haha; i have seen videos of the Harry Potter World and Transformers world of Universal Studios - the theme park - but not the KF Panda world (in the theme park) nor anything regarding the resort. 😅😅😅 Eye opener. 😂
  13. You are right earlier in the year where you mentioned people these days spend their time / money doing other things - not just movies. I mean i know that Universal Studios in Beijing has its soft opening, and seen people posting that they have visited... looks so much better than Univeral Studios Singapore (which i used to work part time for). Really made me feel like flying to Beijing ASAP.
  14. I don't think it will even affect a single cent of the Box office. I mean John Cena's comment on Taiwan and apology to China didn't even impact BO of Fast9 at all. (Maybe it killed TSS instead lol)
  15. Yeah, I really feel that sometimes less is more. Especially as a public figure; he doesn’t have to share his view on many things…. sometimes it is not the intention but how people perceive it.
  16. I think he is too active online and doesn't really filter his thoughts.. and speaks his mind. And as someone who is a public figure; things tend to come back to bite him.
  17. Big drop for Harry Potter What is 007's release date? Also end Sep like rest of the world?
  18. Fun Thursdays, almost seems like Raging Fire on its 49th day rose to number 1 again, beating Free Guy on its 21st day. How do I insert a picture - not from URL? Will see what happens when actuals come out; but Raging Fire has a chance to become the highest grossing Hong Kong film in Mainland - it is less than 100m yuan away from reaching the goal. Reigning champion is Shockwave 2 at around 1.32bn yuan.
  19. Not quoting your entire post; maybe you should add a spoiler tag to your sentences earlier. Cheers.
  20. Not sure why WB is not releasing Dune in UK at the same date as other European Markets..
  21. Haha. Some of the comedy does not translate well into subs. I think for Chinese, being fillial is a key virtue hence many can relate. Have you seen the Ip Man 1 & 2, Stephen Chow's Mermaid / Journey to the West or even Lost in Thailand. Those were movies well ahead of their time and are classics; which if shown today... would have broken records IMO.
  22. Thanks for the figures. Wanted to check what "Harry Potter" is this? Re-release?
