  1. I think Domestic wise --> xXx >RE> Underworld. Will be close between xXx and RE domestically, xXx is not holding well on weekdays as the Oscar Bumps from other films are killing it.
  2. R1 will pass 450m yuan which is more than 65m USD. Not bad at all actually, at a very very dull month, with Disney China not putting in effort for the marketing. More than 2x multiplier since opening weekend, despite strong competition from Passengers and holdovers like Some like it hot, and fake fudge like Railroad Tigers. Never under-estimate the drawing power of Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen, all the positive reviews from China focuses on them, and allowed that x2 multplier since opening weekend.
  3. I think more people felt that TFA is bad... in China. (which actually even alot of fans feel that way too, thinking back). No1 really said Rogue One was bad... the reviews in China are slightly above average, from what I am reading on Weibo. TFA was the culprit for Star Wars failure in China.
  4. Why is Maoyan's box office for the Da Wei Bear so much higehr tjan Rogue One but it is not above R1 here? Ah, May the force be with him. Hope all is fine.
  5. What they are saying is this... Bandwagon effect for SW7 happened because there was news everywhere that it was breaking box office records in US, and opened well everywhere. + curiousity factor and huge marketing in China. So it opened extremely well in China in its first weekend. But as you know it was so bad, people were turned off and it affected Rogue One badly. So.. the question now is.. for SW8, is there this contagion effect? Carrie Fisher's death allowing SW8 to break box office record elsewhere and Chinese have the cruiously factor and start supporting it? Just like how they jumped on the bandwagon for Paul Walker's F7.
  6. Christopher Nolan movies are crazily popular there. If Dark Knight was shown in China, TDKR in 2012 would have done so much better in China.
  7. Rogue One is now 8 on Maoyan. Arrival 7.5.. While passengers is 8.5, and both Great Wall/Railroad tigers (2 crap which I regretted watching) are above 8. Gosh i can't take this.
  8. Cinemascore for Triple X is a very solid A-, which is surprisingly better than Split's B+. I think WOM for Triple X will not be as bad as people think, I am reading twitter and there are people who genuinely likes it.
  9. I doubt so. I think total will be around 60 - 80m. Of course its too early to tell. The original opened with 44m USD right? So.. it will earn roughly half of the original's final gross. Not less than the opening weekend.
  10. Its much better than I thought! Very fun! Almost as good as Furious 7, and EASILY BETTER THAN ALL THE 3 Expendables. As expected.. Donnie Yen stole the show.
  11. Told ya! But the release date is pretty bad don't you think? I mean in terms of the competition.
  12. It was doing well, why did the showtimes get slashed so quickly? How much in USD did TFA earn again?
  13. And once again... Don't know if it is a spoiler, but wil put the spoiler tags.
  14. Quite a big discrepancy between Rogue One box office on Maoyan and here. Hope the estimates is right! =)
  15. Did Rogue One stopped showing or what? It disappeared so fast?
  16. I don't think we can trust reviews for xXx, it is like the first xXx, reviews are not good but he movie itself isn't bad. Its a entertaining popcorn flick, with its flaws and silly at times. But its really action pack and funny, and leave people smiling leaving the cinema. Haha, if you have time, catch it and we can discuss!
