  1. I heard China is cracking down on Box office frauds again(seems like a every-March affair, lol) Did Jackie Chan's movies and theaters get caught? I can't find anything on Weibo or Tieba!
  2. RE6 has legs based on showtimes... no big openers last week... and just 1 big opener this week. xXx's per screen average has been higher after their comparative first weekend.
  3. 0 strong openers this weekend. It retained alot of its screens.
  4. Dog's purpose is killing it. I see it beating Logan's weekdays by next week. Surprise hit. Obviously not going to be as big as Zootopia but its numbers really impresses.
  5. 110 - 120m USD is safer, but not much strong competition next week...+good audience reviews so far. So its legs should be fine.
  6. RE 6 - last Fri (including Midnights) - 207.51m yuan. 84.6% drop. Will crawl to 1billion yuan total.
  7. I am pretty sure it will not pass xXx in China. One of the worst legs for a Hollywood film.
  8. Logan's current maoyan score after midnight screenings.. is at a Whooping 9.1! If it stays above 9... i think Sat's increase will be solid. Genre wise, it poses most threat to RE6 which is quickly losing steam.
  9. RE6 dropping like a stone despite those massive number of screenings/showtimes.
  10. How was the movie? You know..Critics and Audience opinions can be very different.
  11. I compared it to xXx. Can you read? It is one of the most frontloaded hollywood movies so far this year. 200m USD is quite impossible now.
  12. For RE's China BO. I will compare to xXx due to similar genre and release dates. The holds for weekdays are not that strong. WoM not as strong as xXx, and also lack of local stars which usually prevent drop . - Curiosity factor and reviews of local A list superstar Donnie Yen literally stealing the show helped xXx with its holds despite La La Land Sing premiering against it. This weekend Logan might kill it, Lego Batman's WOM should be great as well. I will not be surprised if RE6 ends up less than xXx overall gross in China... despite RE6's opening weekend being 1.5x of xXx. This weekend's hold is vital! But no matter what, it is a huge success already! (Last i heard, SGem sold the rights to the chinese distributor and gets 0% of the profits?!)
  13. The presales need to do well enough for it to kill RE6's showtimes. Or else with the lack of showtimes its not gonna explode...merely do well. RE6 is dropping fine but note its Monday is below xXx and Tuesday(due to Vday) also likely. If Logan and newcomers can steal enough showtimes... RE6 may end up with only 150m+ USD.
  14. If the presales don't pick up, Logan looks like a 300m yuan movie...
  15. Eh. Her reputation in China is actually not that good. She is often criticized for her acting skills and drawing power. Netizens have shared news of her being romantically-connected to one of the shareholders of Wanda. As we know, Wanda is the parent company of Legendary hence she has all these opportunities. Most of the local movies she starred in are flops, and the successful ones are because of the male stars...and not her.
  16. Showtime cuts for xXx is just too aggressive. Just glad it cross 1billion yuan. 1.1. Is not very hopeful...
  17. #19 & #20 are both Donnie Yen Films! Wow. #1 & #3 are Stephen Chow films. #15 & #6 - Huang Bo
  18. Shows how important the release date and marketing is in China. If it was released 1 week later with Logan, it might have gotten killed (or the other way round since Logan's title in Chinese is more like Wolverine 3 : Battle to the death instead of Wolverine: The Final Chapter, haha). Heard from some insiders that Resident Evil trailers were shown infront of most showings of xXx since 2 weeks back when official release date was announced, the distributor wanted to show that they have a similar popcorn product to ease the Chinese's cravings... and xXx had almost 2 full weeks of run which it diminishes all competition and most movie-goers already watched it and needed something fresh. And with that "Final Chapter" title - BAM!
  19. Agreed This is more of a fans-driven film. The multiplier will not be more than 3 imo. Will not beat xXx and Rogue One's presales-OD multiple.
