  1. Beasts of No Nations is getting raveeeeees.
  2. Especially if they don't continue the festival trajectory, which only Brooklyn has.
  3. I couldn't be more ready! The Everest reviews don't seem to shocking to me. The director is rather unproven. For excited to hear about initial reactions to Beasts of No Nations in the next couple of hours.
  4. Damon and it isn't going to be sexual nudity. There isn't any always to get naked, this really is Damon's film.
  5. This illustrates my concerns with Macbeth and how limited it is going to be. A really fascinating look at how Weinstein has (deplorably) handled some films over the past few years. http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/the-lost-orphaned-and-long-delayed-projects-of-harvey-weinstein-20150820?page=1
  6. What's wrong with Oscar hunting is that people think it is bad and pandering. So what is wrong with it is that there is a perception that there is something wrong with it lol. That being said, I hate to think people actually pander for awards. Instead, I want to think Hooper picks projects he finds compelling and just tries to make a damn good movie. My bigger problem with Hooper is his camera technique, but this trailer seems free of any of those weird shots he is known for.
  7. You have such good taste I can't imagine you being a Hooper fan. I love him though.
  8. Just fixed that. But the Oscars were so weird then. But I do think it is the Academy's mission to spread awards around. The Revenant would have to be truly undeniable.
  9. Absolutely. It is unprecedented. I take that back John Ford did it and Joseph L. Mankiewicz did it 60 years ago
  10. It will be on Prime streaming in February. At the moment it looks like just LA/NYC hella limited. I'm shocked the pundits are putting her lead. Lady Macbeth has never been anything other than supporting.
  11. I'm losing confidence in Ronan and I have a feeling that Suffragette is awful. They might be ready to reward Lawerence or Blanchettt again, and if Alicia goes supporting I'd definitely be leaning towards that over Bullock or Rampling. I am quite curious to see how Jolie plays into this race. The past 5 AFI openers have all gotten Globe nods and I'm inclined to think, if By the Sea is good, she wouldn't need all of the prerequisites.
  12. Completely agree. Rumor is she is being pushed supporting despite being a co-lead. I think she'll easily win that and even has a shot in lead.
  13. His industry respect is at an all-time low and Black Mass is purely a commercial play. Sorry bb.
  14. It's a little glamorous... But I am so fucking here for Alicia Vikander.
  15. lol at people not predicting Anomalisa. Kauffman R rated Stop motion In-competition at Venice Huge festival play
  16. I thought it has been strong and there is a ton on the slate I'm interested in. Anything is better than last year I think.
  17. On the contrary, I thought Me and Earl was phenomenal. Yes, it is twee, but there is a lot of depth and some true emotion.
  18. Apparently Miles Ahead is coming out next year.
  19. This movie is never coming to your theater. Harvey is doing a limited release in December in LA and NYC and it is going on to Amazon a couple months after. Totally abandoning it.
