  1. We can all mock Deadline all we want (I do it myself, it's fun!), but there's also Variety, as Ryan Reynolds noted: That's explicitly based on "early estimates" so is presumably at least a little based on hard data. Doesn't mean it can't swell from there. For now let's temper expectations a bit until we get more concrete Friday numbers from our resident Asgardians.
  2. As I was just saying off this thread I'm shocked, but not surprised. Or maybe surprised but not shocked is the better way to put it. I was thinking to myself last Sat and Sun as international numbers rolled in that the DOM market was underperforming relative to the rest of the world. This could be a case of the DOM catching up with the international market. I also was... skeptical of Yom Kippur being responsible for Joker's Wed drop off of Discount Tuesday, but I held my tongue and deferred to the board's experts. In retrospect that might have been an overlooked sign. Either way, nothing but amazement for Joker's run. I'll leave the whys and wherefores for others.
  3. At T-7, Maleficent 2 is now at 413 tickets sold (+36 the last two days). 43.84% of Pika Pika (2.50m) [-0.42m from last check] 35.14% of Aladdin (2.46m) [-0.11m from last check] 26.68% of It 2 (2.80m) [-0.24m from last check] And the lolcheck is: 91.17% of H&S (5.29m) [-0.92m from last check] Presuming Sacramento isn't over-performing (which might not be a good presumption with Philly's and Denver's numbers), looks to be converging on 2.5m. Maybe 2m if they keep dropping. FWIW, TS4 comp is down a tick to 2.34m and TLK is at a similar number of 2.38m, So not crashing (yet), but not headed in the right direction, either.

  5. Aw, you make me blush. Yours was absolutely fantastic as well and I look forward to your Top 50 Musical reveal.
  6. I HAD NO IDEA Star Wars AND Jaws WOULD BE ONE-TWO ON THIS LIST WHEN I WROTE MY BIT. (Honestly, I was thinking 4 to 6 or so max for SW) Man is it ironic to mention both of them in my opening salvo about SW being a New Hollywood film.
  7. A massive congratulations to @cannastop and @Jason for what HAS to be the fastest Top 100 reveal in the history of BOT!!!!!
  8. @baumer and @Porthos are now circling each other, West Side Story style right now.
  9. The Godfather Part II and I at 6 and 5? Behind both Jaws and Star Wars?!? I would NOT have predicted that. Not even with this board's tastes.
  10. Still, great progress in the healing. May be slow, but steadily improving! 👍
  11. Still in a waiting period, as there are conflicting signals on 14 or 21. Speaking of waiting...
  12. (an exceedingly USA-centric joke, probably)
  13. While there are pros and cons, I do think it's good to have the more popular clubs in high trafficked areas of the forum. It allows more people to see them and engage with them. And while the Clubs forum might be one of the more popular ones outside of the box office one, it still can be a case of "out of sight, out of mind" at times. It can be a bit depressing to see you club not get much action, but at the same time it's easy enough to bump it back up if there is a good reason (bumping for no good reason is of course not good). I also worry that if remove all clubs from the box office section, then people will start to forget they even exist as they get caught up in the day-to-day discussion of movies in general. Having popular clubs on the first couple of pages reminds everyone that Clubs Are a Thing and, perhaps, "Oh yeah, wonder what's going on with that club I heard about". In short, they can be considered advertising for the concept of clubs themselves. Maybe that's not a good reason, or at least a good enough reason. But I do think it is a factor, however small.
  14. (the metajoke on one level is that nycsouthpaw is a huge Dodger fan)
  15. Okay, I'm over it. Now that I've given my sympathy I can revel in this. But I'll be nice and not do it in this thread.
  16. Must be getting soft in my old age, as even I can feel that was a BRUH-TAL way to lose. Sincere and heartfelt sympathies on a personal level to @Plain Old Tele and @Water Bottle. On the other hand, if there was ANY team that deserved to get some playoff karma, it was the Nationals, who were, if anything even more snakebit than the Dodgers. Really happy to see them proceed.
  17. Of course, if the resident Dodger fans on this board want to consider this a curse and why he's been unlucky in the playoffs... Well, I won't feel that bad at taking that burden.
