  1. I saw it and was shocked by how uninvolving and draggy I found it. Visually lovely but otherwise it didn't connect at all.

  3. I can see LLL having $10m+ weekends for the next month, maybe month and a half. Basically pulling a Titanic on 1/3 of the scale. It's the best case scenario but it's possible.
  4. LLL barely has an ensemble to speak of. Thinking it has less of a chance to win because of no Ensemble nom is the same as thinking Birdman was less likely to win because it didn't have an Editing nod. It means nothing.
  5. An animal dying is innocent + helpless to an extent a human being dying almost never is. Especially in movies.
  6. Turns out I was the first to namedrop LLL a year ago. Poor Cianfrance though.
  7. He'll probably be in his dude-who-did-Atonement mode for this.
  8. Yeah I'll be glad to see it win a whole bunch of Oscars but they better have the good sense to give screenplay to Lonergan.
  9. That looks nightmarish. Like something that belongs in an Alien movie or in the pit scene from the 2005 King Kong.
  10. The second pool party in La La Land, from Mia requesting "I Ran" to their first dance, is a delightful little slice of romcom. But yeah the genre probably only lives in bits and pieces like that for now.
  11. Their reward is working with arguably the greatest living director and participating in a movie that will still be both remembered and discovered, even if by a very small audience, when no one gives a shit about Deadpool.
  12. The Babadook is so good I could rewatch it every time Baumer feels the need to get it off his chest about how much it sucks and I'd still never get tired of it.
  13. This doesn't get released here until mid-March but I'm now getting excited for it. Helps that it's the only interesting movie coming out that week. Release the McAvoy.
  14. He wasn't in that I think. Jim Broadbent should have won everything for it though, up to the Nobel prize
