  1. Gotta root for JJL so this better not be another one of McConaughey's recent duds. The director of '71 gives me hope.
  2. I'll take La La Land. Maybe something else later too. @WrathOfHan One of us should take Rogue One and go on a desperate mission of writing up how average it really is. Rebel against the BOT Empire
  3. Incidentally just rewatched Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. Would make a hell of a double feature with Hell or High Water, two excellent crime/heist films with great Bridges performances separated by 40 years.
  4. 10 Cloverfield Lane caught me off guard with how it actually bothered to establish character and atmosphere through framing. All those shots where Winstead looks like she's trapped within the frame itself, one where she's sitting across from Goodman and he actually looks like three times bigger, one that cuts him out entirely except for his clenched fist and it generates even more tension this way. Seems like such an obvious thing to do yet you so rarely see that level of care in a Hollywood movie. I just don't get The Nice Guys love at this point. Terrific performances but that entire mystery it's built on is some yawn-inducing first draft mess.
  5. Moana was as forgettable as they come for me. And Sing Street, good lord. It coulda just been that one cute little movie but no you had to get it in here didn't you.
  6. Of things that have a concrete release date my most anticipated are The Lost City of Z and Song to Song probably. From later on, the PTA, Baby Driver and Logan Lucky.
  7. I know it makes me a bad Russian but vodka has lost nearly all of its appeal to me over the years.
  8. I can roll with this. Great to see OJ and Don't Breathe sneaking in. Might have been more mad at CW and BVS but that tie is priceless. Think if American Honey isn't one of the next two or three films then it's definitely missed. Hoping against hope it's there.
  9. Fine. None of the acting really stood out to me.
  10. The post-Superbowl weekend is usually inflated and very kind to all holdovers, though it's never had a set of new releases as heavy as this year's.
  11. La La Land is having the same 30-35% drop that Juno, Slumdog and The King's Speech had in their respective SB weekends. I think it's still heading for 160+.
  12. I've seen it. It's way too slow-paced and quietly moody for that.
  13. I lurked on the IMDb boards a lot in the late '00s and they were genuinely useful when it came to classic and cult films, all the people there actually cared to discuss them and it was easy to find interesting comments and conversations dating back to like 2004. I haven't been there in years and they've always been a dumpster fire with regards to popular new or upcoming movies but it's kinda sad that they're closing.
  14. 3. The Great Wall is going to Make $350M Worldwide by the end of the game 6. Split makes zero more dollars domestic after Sunday Jan 29th 4. A Cure For Wellness and Fist Fight will have a combined OW of $100M 2. Rings is going to make $75M by the end of the game 5. Star Wars will make another $50M by the end of the game 1. John Wick, Lego Batman and 50 Shades' combined OWs will make $200M
