  1. I can't agree more. Both soundtracks are epic and the action scenes are jaw dropping. Besides, seeing the English getting beaten by the Scots is always a pleasure to watch. *shots fired*
  2. As @Olive already mentioned, Ice Age 5's first week attracted 1,233,000 viewers in France. http://www.cine-directors.net/boxoff.htm It is not a bad score, but well below expectations. By comparison, Ice Age 4 attracted 1,767,490 viewers during the first week. http://www.jpbox-office.com/comparaisons.php?id=15432&id2=11379#cible2 As some of you already pointed out, the reasons are: - Terrorist attack. I don't think it will have a much more serious impact than the one in Paris, except for Nice itself of course. It sounds strange to say, but French people somehow get "accustomed" by these tragedies now. - Extreme heat (35 - 40 degrees) everywhere in France. - Lassitude from the audience. This is I believe the main reason. Ice Age 5 doesn't appeal to people as much as before.
  3. It is really amazing how late the release of Zootopia is for Turkey. I wonder why Disney decided this. By the way, I like your new avatar @Jason . It seems that we will have two Judy now! (who is the real one lol)
  4. I just had a glance today at the international market for Zootopia on Box Office Mojo: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=intl&id=disney2016.htm And I noticed that the total gross for France dropped from $36,020,605 a few weeks ago to... $31,776,000 today (!!) How is that even possible lol? It is more than $4.2 million drop!
  5. I... I have really no idea ^^'. It is even hard for me to accept that Zootopia can reach $80M. But as you mentioned before, it is amazing how word of mouth can be powerful. I have this feeling that word of mouth works better in Asian countries like South Korea, Japan, China, than in Western countries, especially in Europe. My jaw literally dropped when I read that Zotoopia skyrocketed 2 weeks after its launch in Japan, considering that it started in the 2nd place. As @yjs said, they can go batshit crazy lol.
  6. @LMAbacus Before my calculation, I expected the admission to be above 5M (assuming that the price range of a ticket is 8 to $9). Well, I must admit Zootopia is doing really well, so the number will continue to grow a lot. My prediction was $80M, so it will give something like 6.2M entries.
  7. Thanks a lot @Jason So if around 63% give 2.192.852 entries, 100% of all the theaters would "theoretically" give around 3.480.717 entries, according to my rule of three calculation (of course I can be completely wrong, I am an amateur ^^). To go a bit further, the price of a cinema ticket would be $44.592.269/3.480.717 = ~$12.8. I won't diminish the performance of Zootopia in Japan but if the number is currently around 3.5M entries, I am not really impressed..
  8. Just a question, what is ADM U.L. please? Is it the toal number of admissions so far? (even though I doubt it because the figure is so low!)
  9. Good man. You didn't succumb to the temptation of the streaming! Two days ago, a downloadable HD version was (unfortunately) released online so my fellow countrymen who didn't buy the cinema ticket jumped on the opportunity to download the movie. (How irritating really ). Anyway, I am glad you enjoyed it! @LMAbacus The movie is still showing but mainly in Paris and the suburbs. It is probably still showing in the very large cities such as Lyon but I am not 100% sure. When I think about it, Zootopia was released here on the 17th of February, that's crazy.
  10. I am really impressed by the high predictions. The movie was released a month ago, so I will go for $80 million for Japan. It is hard for me to imagine a movie making three times the score it is currently making ($42.8M) in the months to come.
  11. As long as they decide to make a new one, I am fine to wait for years.
  12. I am in the same train with you for this. There are many great animation movies I really love, such as Kung Fu Panda, Monster Inc, Tout en Haut du Monde, etc. But Zootopia was really a killer. Since I saw it at the end of January that, I think of this movie everyday! Which movie of Miyazaki did you like? My favorite is Spirited Away, a masterpiece.
  13. This is a great chart LMAbacus. Box Office Mojo updated at last the figures: JAPAN Weekend Box Office2016 Date (click to view chart) Rank Weekend Gross / % Change Screens Change /Avg. Gross-to-Date Week # Apr. 23–24 2 $3,988,949 - 471 - $8,469 $3,988,949 1 Apr. 30–May 1 2 $4,795,368 +20.2% 0 -471 n/a $13,531,841 2 May 7–8 1 $3,611,350 -24.7% 0 - n/a $27,896,906 3 May 14–15 1 $4,225,882 +17.0% 0 - n/a $34,335,852 4 Now that the billion is virtually guaranteed, I hope Disney will consider making a sequel.
  14. Does anyone know where I can find the information about the cumulated admission figures for Zootopia? Japanese people really dig animation movies.
  15. According to Box Office Mojo, as of 5/8, Zootopia made $33,083,998. It's probably $34M or $35M now... Source: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=intl&id=disney2016.htm
  16. I fully agree. It just strange when the lips are not sync with the voice. However, I found a few exceptions for animation movies. It is of course a matter of personal taste, but I found that some dubbing worked very well, even better than the original voice (Tangled & Zootopia for example).
  17. Moana is quite interesting indeed, can't wait for the trailer to come out. And Olsen, what a cutie!
  18. @Fullbuster Dude, even though I am quite new in this website, I have noticed that you are well in charge of the Brazilian box office. The amount of information really impress me; that's a lot of effort. Keep up the good work! I am big fan of Finding Nemo but I found the trailer of Dory a bit meh. Hope the movie will surprise me. By the way... who is this chick on your avatar?
  19. Impressive figures from Japan for Zootopia. I must confess, I never thought until today that the billion mark would be possible but now I revise my judgement. The probability of Zootopia crossing $1B is very high. The Japanese market for sure is a gigantic one.
  20. The superhero movies I really loved are Spider Man 1 (2002), and particularly Spider Man 2 (2004). Maybe I enjoyed these two movies because I was younger, or because there weren't toooo many superhero movies like today. Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy are quite good as well, I enjoyed their off-the-wall humour. Civil War is doing pretty well at the Chinese BO. It looks like it's doing even better than Zootopia when I compare the figures on Box Office Mojo.
  21. @Ent You are so right, French movies tend to be vulgar and lame nowadays. I am not even watching them anymore except if the critics are really excellent. Production companies hire famous actors and actresses in the hope to attract more people but it doesn't make a good movie if there is not a good plot. You aroused my curiosity, may I ask what is the name of this Finnish movie please?
  22. Amen to that. I will never understand how the f some of our local movies managed to be so successful like Bronzes 3 or Taxi 2. Many other movies on the other hand should have been more successful in my country or in Europe, like the masterpiece Spirited Away.
  23. Same for me. I watched the CW with two other friends, and we didn't really get the hype either. I suppose I am getting bored with all the super hero movies.
  24. Sorry for the (very) long wait of my reply... The region is called Nord-Pas-de-Calais. It is a bit old news now, but according to Box Office Mojo, Zootopia grossed +$36M, this is virtually a $5M jump from the previous weekend. I was very surprised at first but on second thought, it makes a bit sense because the admission is 4,685,653. Source: http://www.jpbox-office.com/fichfilm.php?id=15556&affich=france It gives an average ticket price of $36,449,253/4,685,653 = $7.77. By the way, is the title of this thread not too old? ^^
