  1. I'm really excited about this movie, and I've hardly been excited about any film so far this year. Anecdotal, but I think it sounds great and I expect it to do well. It sounds like Chris Hemsworth is coming back for Star Trek IV. I'm thinking it has to be some alternate timeline since CH played Kirk's dad who died a hero in saving the crew of his ship in the first movie. http://www.vulture.com/2016/07/chris-hemsworth-coming-back-for-star-trek-4.html I'm intrigued about how that will impact Kirk, however.
  2. So now people are complaining about 88% with 22 fresh reviews to 3 rotten ones? It is going to be certified fresh, and the critics this year trash anything familiar that isn't animation, imho. I'll take 88%. Besides, this movie looks great, and I'd go see it regardless of what the critics say.
  3. Hey! It looks like Jahlah in Beyond was inspired by Jen (J-Law) in Winter's Bone! Didn't know that! http://www.cnet.com/news/the-new-face-in-star-trek-beyond-was-named-after-jennifer-lawrence/
  4. I took it as the first JJ Abrams one, but he didn't specify. He was really happy with it, though.
  5. Yes. It looks terrific, and someone on here who has seen it said they thought it was even better than the first one!
  6. OK, officially excited for this! Too bad for The Space Between Us, though. It looks like a cute movie but with Passengers and this out in the same timeframe, I think the audience it is going for will be busy. I hope they move it again.
  7. Yeah. I still liked the movie a lot, but I liked the previous one a lot better. What REALLY excites me about THIS one is people who have seen it saying it might even be better than that first (of the trilogy) one.
  8. sigh.... Didn't know this was coming but I'm always going to look forward to a King Arthur film. I don't really know Guy Ritchie, but your response isn't encouraging.
  9. That occurred to me as well, but maybe they thought changing a known character that much would be worse..... or maybe they came up with the excuse after the fact.... no clue.
  10. I'm excited for the trailer for that reason, and hope to be excited for the film. I like Emma Stone and the old LA bit fits well with musicals, so I am optimistic.
  11. They said they did it because the character as portrayed in the comics was a racial stereotype they didn't want to continue, and since the Ancient One gets reincarnated as different characters they made this one a white woman. Woman being the diversity part. I know nothing about the Ancient One and never read a Dr Strange comic; I am just repeating what I read in an article. On the topic of STB, however, people are saying the Passengers Trailer may be attached to it, which only makes me look forward to the movie more!
  12. The 11 we have plus Passengers Bourne Assassins Creed Rogue One Suicide Squad Star Trek Fantastic Beasts Magnificent Seven Ghostbusters Trolls Dr Strange Sing Bad Moms Possible alternate Storks
  13. That's pretty meaningless. The first XMen got 3mill more domestic, but its worldwide take was $296,339,527 to XA's $528,183,350. And First Class made less domestically as well as world wide than XA with $353,624,124 WW. Yes, studios get a lower percentage of foreign take, but over $225 M more (in the case of XMen) and over $175M more (in the case of First Class) is a far bigger deal than a loss of $3M domestic. How very odd to phrase XA's performance in those terms.
  14. Having read through several RT watch threads, all of which had obnoxious posts, what would make this one so special?
  15. To be fair, animation is more like a medium than a specific theme, but I wish there was more gripping original live action material as well.
